In my last competition, I felt as though time had slowed down. I could see everything my opponent was doing and I was able to react with ease. When I watched it on DVD I thought both of us were going really fast, but in my mind I thought he was really slow. Have you ever experienced this before, do you beleive it happens and what is this phenomenon called?

I have heard of 'in the zone' before, but does it have a scientific name?

Bruce Lee called it "establishing your rhythm". It's where you force your opponent to follow your rhythm to a point where you can read his moves and fire away at will without getting hit. It's a common thing to see in top rank boxing especially when a boxer has broken his opponent's rhythm with a commanding jab and basically just counters the hell out of anything his opponent throws at him with great ease. It usually works against brawler type opponents who prefer to just stand in one place and trade blows.

you mean like in the Matrix where the guy sees the bullets? No not like that but the speed of the game slows down. I mean what seemed like chaos when first started training becomes fluid eventually.

I've never felt as if my opponent slowed down, but I've surprised myself with my own speed before. I've heard of it happening several times.

It's called "in the zone",yes or "forced speed" but it doesn't happen very often. It means you are fully focused and you can predict the moves of your opponent. It didn't happen to me as I'm an anti-fighting person.I rely on deception to win all my fights.;)

yes i believe it happens and has happened to many people or at least when sparring multiple people it seems that way that is generally why when fighting 45 seconds or 1 minute might seem like forever
