Leave the learners plate in the car. So other road user know theres somebody new or knowing everything about the road rules and how it works so other drivers will be prepared and also if you take the Leaners plate off the police thinks your son's knows everything. But if you are driving it's ok to take it down but if its your son put it on the car!!!!

well if you leave the L plates on the police may think they have an unacompannied learner on the road, also you devalue the significance of L plates if you leave them on all the time. Let common sense prevail, if you mainly use the car for teaching your son leave them on, if you're only doing it occasionally take them off until needed.

Yes you do need to, although I don't think there is a legal rule against not doing it. Police will probably pull you up and ask to see your drivers license, and insurance, seen as they will think your a learner driving about on your own.
