'cause deep down inside... they know they are insane and that God doesn't exist. When they die they know Heaven and Hell are fiction... you can see it in their eyes that life REALLY is over and they will never be conscious again.

I like these kinds of questions because they say a lot about the person asking them.

What is a believer anyway?

I would suggest it’s some one trying to do the right thing, some one with passion in their life (maybe forward focused direction with goals), or passion from their beliefs.

But it could also be some one who asks questions to learn, some on with an inquisitive mind, some one who is hoping to spark a conversation and experiment with an idea.

A believer is also some one (like yourself) that wants to understand why people have a strong faith of character, a belief system strong enough to take a daily pounding without reservation, a person who believes.

Yes, we believers know the trouble of the world, but also know WE can not give up, give in, or capitulate on what’s right because we need to show people that there is HOPE.

I can see that you understand more than you suggest, so keep the faith and be a positive source for others to emulate.

A little effort every day and no maintain is safe!

Fictional God?

There is plenty of archaeological and historical evidence to show God's existance, and verifying the Bible's accuracy. You should do some research, you'd find out some very interesting evidence.

Sodom and Gomorrah have been found, and they were burned with fire which came from ABOVE the cities.

The city of Jericho had walls was destroyed in such a fashion that the walls fell outward, allowing Israel to run up ramps created by the fallen walls into the city.

Greek historian Thallus recorded the 3 hours of darkness that occurred when Jesus died, calling it a "super eclipse" as he had no other explanation for it.

The REAL Mount Sinai has been discovered in Saudi Arabia (where the apostle Paul said it was), and petroglyphs of calves have been found inscribed on the rocks there. Also the remains of the altar of the Golden Calf have been found, as well as the piles of boundary stones that Moses put around the mountain.

Clay seals belonging to Baruch, the son of Neriah who was Jeremiah's scribe and that of Jezebel have been found in Samaria.

There is much more, but I am limited on space here. Hopefully you will see my point.

I'm sure that there are things in your life that you have to defend or apologize (make excuses) for. Does this mean that your beliefs are fictional? Or that you don't live in reality?

When someone attacks my beliefs, I defend them. Everybody else does the same regardless of what they believe.

To me, God is real, not fictional. And nothing you will ever do or say will change my mind. In that sense, He doesn't need my defense, apology or excuse.

They believe because it's a comfort to know they aren't all alone. It gives them hope and answers to the unknown. I myself am an atheist, but I respect everyones religions. There is no reason the "Believers" should have to defend themselves for believing in God. I personally hate when people push their beliefs onto me, so I try to avoid doing it to others. :)

It will be interesting to see the look on your face come judgement day. Someone once told that It is better to live like there is a God and find out He doesn't exist than to live like there is no God and find out that there is. If for no other reason perhaps you should change your thinking just in case.

depends on your philosophical view,
"religion is the opiate of the masses"
a philosopher once said that
I personaly think that people need to belive in something higher wether it exists or not I guess we may find out when we pass or if you belive in reincarnation we may never know,
who realy cares why someone belives in something, I am not christian or any preticular faith system as that I am more of a philosphical soul, but I do have a question for you do you belive in the human spirit, if so why, and how do you know it is there, and if you do doesnt that constitute as having faith in something "fictional" in your words and if not where is your proff that there is not such a thing just like where is your proff to disprove it.

i dont mind how many excuses/reasons/justifications they make, as long as its not shoved in my face

in regard to sloane R's post - "Yes unfortunately we have to share our lives with folks like you" - how rude and un-christian of you - where is your tolerance and love for fellow human beings??

and hckysnpr101 - "Why do athiest care so much what other people believe...unless they feel left out, jealous, idk maybe wrong?" = anyone could swap 'atheist' for christian' and the sentence would be as valid = why do xians feel it necessary to witness uninvited, or threaten people with torture after death if they don't convert?

just a query

blessed be

What kind of "excuses" do believers make?

And how do YOU know, for a FACT, that God does not exist? No one can know that for certain, either way.

If I really believed that you think that way, I might be defensive, but most non believers are just angry people who have been hurt at some point in their lives, and need to disown God and their true belief in him , to lash out at something or someone. God will heal that if you let him. God has shown us all the proof he is going to show us. He owes us nothing. It is up to us to believe and faith is believing what we cannot readily see. nonetheless, God has given us plenty of proof in our lives. We pray that you change, but if not, then you don't. God Bless You sir
