why don't you just accept that you're stupid and there's no such thing. like santa claus. just stop believing and be like us
note: this isn't serious, it's sort of a parody to all of the monotonous "why don't you just love god" questions tonight. but if you want to answer like i was serious, i'd like to see what you have to say.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had a world where everybody said,
'We don't know?'
The fact is that you're surrounded by God and you don't see God,
Because you KNOW ABOUT God.
The final barrier to the vision of God is your God concept.
You miss God because you think you know.
The highest knowledge of God is to know God as unknowable.
All revelations, however divine, are never any more than a finger pointing at the moon.
As we say in the East, 'When the sage points to the moon,
All the idiot sees is the finger'.

What do you mean there's no Santa????? :)
My opinion is that we're fed it from such a young age, and brought to Mass and told that God and Jesus save us and so on.....
We're never given a choice about what religion we want it's thrust upon us at home, in school at mass and there's always a religious connection with special things, Christmas, Easter, Baptism, Communion, Comfirmation.... so if your fed something long enough when your young and naive well is there a choice after that?

Ok, I'll answer as though you were serious. I have so much faith in God because He constantly helps me cope with the daily hardships of life. He has never let me down, and gives me peace that passes understanding. I have met Jesus Christ in the spirit, and once I've met someone, I have a very hard time saying that they don't exist.
As far as people who say to you, "Why don't you just love God?", they need to realize that you can't love someone you never even met. And they don't need to call you stupid, as you did us believers. Instead, they need to ask you if you want to know God, and then introduce Him to you if you say, "Yes." Peace.

And as I tell people from time to time....
.... One who seriously tries to persuade will seek to do so through kindness and empathy, as those are qualities that most people warm to most easily.
Those who try to persuade through derision and mockery are only doing it for their own amusement and the cynical knowledge that it will change nobody.
And why is it this way?
Because a converter's reward is a change of heart, and failure at that will defeat him. A troll's reward is the act itself, and thus leaves no oppurtunity for defeat.

Why would I accept something that is demonstratively untrue? I know God lives because I've talked with Him. I've felt the power and glory and love God has for me and for His other children.
If you are stupid for believing the truth, then i guess Id rather be stupid than smart.

I think it is stupid to call people stupid for reasons like you just did.
I have a personal relationship with God and no one can take it away from me. You do not have it. It is sad. : )

I know Santa is just a fairy tale, but life and the Universe didn't just create themselves out of nothing - that's an even bigger fairy tale, so there has to be something greater than the Universe which existed prior to and independant of it.
That 'something greater' is God.

it makes me feel better about life in general and that there is something better after it. If i get screwed over by someone who gets away with it, its reassuring to know they dont really get away with it. Also, it feels good to feel like someone loves you always and is looking out for you.
Some people need that lovin' feeling in their life and to know that they are getting a rewaard for their good behavior.

Don't call me names to my back that you wouldn't dare to my face.
Stupid I may be but, I am comfortable with knowing my God will save me, he has comforted me in battle, when it was dark and no light to go by, the enemy was somewhere in front and I was afraid to die, my God was there for me, I believe.
When I was sad, I only had to believe, He died for me on the cross and I believe what He says, that if I believe, I will be saved.
How sad you must be and feel, to not have someone or something to believe in, to be so alone. I feel sorrow for you and will pray for you enlightenment.

I object you calling Christians stupid. I will not answer to people who have never experienced the love and peace one has when times are tough.
