Just keep the dog without the papers. You actually did this "wrong" in the legal sense. The AC would have come and taken the dog then gone through court to get ownership then sold the dog (shelters love to make money from purebreds). But you don't know if they would have sold it to you.
So.... Here is your problem. If you go to the vet and he checks for a microchip that says this dog belongs to Jane Smith then you have to explain why you have Jane Smith's dog. In my opinion, I would keep the dog. Go to the vet and tell tell the truth in a nonconfrontational way, "I got the dog from my neighbors, they didn't want the dog anymore" That's the truth and it's all the info they need. Get the dog her shots and have the tag put in my name. If the original owner comes back demanding the dog then you "found it" running alone. I doubt they will though because they don't care about it anyway.
And if you take the advice to give the dog to the ASPCA or RSPCA, chances are you will not get it back and if you do it will cost you a small fortune. That is just a bad idea, in my opinion. They are not trustworthy.

There are some licensing clubs that do it with affidavit and pictures. Kennel clubs of any kind are really just a human creation. Just a brand name, so in the true sense none of them are more valuable than any other. They mean nothing. A dog is a dog is a dog. I don't know which ones do the picture thing, but I heard some kids talking about it at the dog show this summer. They sent in pictures and affidavits saying that the dog was a whatever and they got some club certificate with their dogs name and breed on it. I mean most kennel clubs are just idiots sitting on computers making up pretty documents for $25 a pop anyway. If you can find one of those "clubs" you might be able to get the dog registered with it. It's just a generic brandname, but if it makes you happy so be it.

Hi, For that you need to get a hold of your old neighbor they have the register paper with her # and they own her. The people who left her to starve have to be put in for a owners transfer. Without going threw the red tape there's really nothing you can do about getting paper work on her. I know you don't want to get ahold of your neighbor because for meanness they may want her back even if they really don't want her. About the dog licenses you will have to have prove of a rabie shot before you can do this. I would just get her a 3 year rabie shot and get her license and don't have to worry about it for 3 years. I hope things work out for you. You sound like a nice person and the dog problem already loves you for given her a caring home.
A Friend.

Can you get in touch with the family? You don't have to be confrontational about it; just let them know that you've got the dog and are taking care of her. You can mention the papers if it seems comfortable to do so, but you don't really need them for anything. The only things you ever use them for are dog shows and similar competitions, and breeding.
If you want the dog to be officially yours just start feeding her, keep her on your property, and take her to the vet. If you have family photos with her in them and can show proof that you've taken medical and financial responsibility for her, chances are the law would leave her to you if you're ever challenged. Write down and keep ahold of the day and time you talked to the owners about taking her, or at least your attempts to contact them. If you never even tried to contact them, they'll have a lot more legal grounds to ask for "their" dog back in the future.
Licenses and city registration isn't too big a deal. I mean, overlapping it won't matter. Just ask to buy a registration when you take her to the vet.

Is she microchipped? You have to ask a vet to check. And also perhaps through a vet you can get her new papers. If not, why not tell the family who had her? They may actually be relived that you will take the dog, they obviously don't want it. If they try to pretend they want her just to take money from you, don't give her to them, and threaten to call animal control because they were the ones that abandoned her. Although I wouldn't bother confronting them either, I think you are right. Just keep the dog and love her as much as you can!

contact the licence bureau and ask them how you get papers or new papers. Tell them you got the dog from someone and they lost the papers, you may want to come up with something as to why you dont know the people or cant contact them since they may want to Or you could take him to the vet and see if there is a chip in the dog and see if you can find something out that way but it could backfire too if there is a chip and they reported him missing, Good for you on the rescue

i think of you are able to circulate the paragraphs around so as that they purchase canines meals and education books before they purchase a canines. She conceled this with a brilliant rock with an inverted pentagram in the back of it. (hid, you spelled hid incorrect.) I nevertheless don't be conscious of how the family contributors is at church and became snoozing and did no longer hear their own canines scream. i think of you choose another clarification for why they did no longer hear the screams. possibly they have been doing confession or going to the washing room or some thing, despite if it would not paintings with the tale to have them snoozing in church. i admire the section the place they might't movie the canines in church, it is available. The male canines could die, yet they might not be conscious of Princess became pregnant after purely one week and maximum canines have an eighty 4 day gestation era before they have puppies, it relies upon on the breed. you do not get puppies after a week and a few days, so replace the dates. i think of it is all I had for rewrites or techniques. good tale.

Registration means nothing unless you are going to show or breed the dog ( I hope it is already spayed,or that you will get it spayed.) Call your local dog pound;they should be able to tell you where to get a license. You'll also need to get the dog vaccinated, checked for heartworms, and started on heartworm preventative.Good luck.

I am sorry, but there is no way to get papers in your name without the signature of the former owner..or from her assigned representative. ..just no way..sigh.
However, you can take it to the vet for shots, get rabies certificate and have it licensed under your name.

Informing the local RPSCA is the only way to go on this if you want the dog to actually be yours. Otherwise they can take it right back from you. Depending on what they were arrested for, the RPSCA might award you the dog if you prove you are capable/responsible enough to own one.

You need to inform the RSPCA and the police that the family were arrested in. Its the only way to do it. If the dog is taken away to the RSPCA then see if you can adopt it if you are interested.
