If two fighters were to come across each other on the streets who would win the fight the Jet Kune Do fighter or Muay Thai fighter?
I'd say Jet kune do, its quickness and deadly counters would out do a Muay Thai fighter anyday.
Lemmie know what you think.

RE to Superman: JKD has barley anything to do with MMA as Bruce Lee meant JKD to be more of a philosophy, mentality, and way of life; not necessarily a martial style. So it's possible a fighter has been thru the ring that practices Jeet Kune Do, but knows nothing of the modern-day martial art.

JKD is about teaching you how to train smart, Muay Thai is all about learning how to use fist, feet, elbows and knees in a stand up fight. It's like asking which book would win help wars? Sun Tzu's "Art of War" or a Combat Shooting Handgun Manual? Granted a Handgun manual could teach you how to win a typical urban gunfight, but If you go up against a sniper, a fighter jet or a whole army tank division, your handgun skills would be totally useless.

Damn this is the toughest question I have seen here yet. I have been a student of and have been practicing Muay Thai for almost 6 years now. I love it and think it's the best art out there. That is just my opinion. The statement is very biased and subjective I know. At least I own up to it. I am a huge fan of Bruce Lee and Jeet Kune Do. I think it is very hard to say who would win or dominate this fight. Bruce Lee is a master. I dont think you can call him undefeatable though. You can say the same thing about the World Muay Thai Champion. Im sure he has many great wins and is a superb thai boxer, but again not undefeatable. Bruce Lee may be able to get on the inside and strike his opponent with one of his remarkable 1inch punches and give him a cardiac arrest or something. Then again he might not be able to. Maybe Bruce Lee will be on the floor knocked unconscious after receiving a harsh elbow to his jaw. I dont think the outcome of the fight can be determined. Therefore it is unanswerable.

Not a fair question, as JKD is not a style, it is more of a philosophy, a pseudo-MMA. As such, it could include everything and anything, including Mauy Thai. That's like saying which would win a whole army or an M-1 Abrams.
You can't compare an outlook or school of thought to a style.
Which style would win, then, aggression or Kickboxing?
...............
And to Paradise, etc., UFC is not an MMA, it is an MMA organization. JKD is a 'mixed martial art' because it comprises more than one 'pure' style. Even commom sense would tell you that.

A. It totally depends on the individual
B. It's an odds game. Sometimes one might win, sometimes the other. Look at pro boxers. Look at the UFC. Sometimes the same people fight each other and switch back and forth in winning.
C. Muay Thai fighters take a ton of abuse but have rules. JKD users don't take nearly the abuse but have no problem sticking a finger in your eye or flitting around like an elf and b4 you even know you're in a fight, striking you in the throat..
So there is no clear-cut answer.

Misconceptions, god i love them. That was for the one who asked about how many JKD people won MMA fights. JKD would beat Muay Thai. JKD is not a MMA. It is a Martial art within itself. I have been a follower of Bruce lee since I was about 6 years old, I am now 31. Too many people put JKD in the category of MMA like UFC. Problem is is that UFC is TOTALLY commercialized, they are in it for the money. JKD was never about that. It was all about making yourself a better martial artist. Taking from different styles what works for you adn putting them together. Bruce lee didn't see JKD as a style, he saw it as a philosophy. I would say that JKD could take any martial art, for the simple fact that Bruce Lee didn't go for fixed stances and did go for the shortest distance strikes there were.

Yeah definately professinal wrestling.. Bruce Lee developed Jeet Kune Do as a fighting style to bridge all fighting styles(including Muay Thai). All have their weaknesses, but I think JKD is the best overall.

well you can not judge the style without someone to perform the style and if you have a student who does not practice JKD would not beat a muay thai student who did study .. some times we think something that is more fancy would win but the simple techniqued art is just as good sometimes better

styles don't win, fighters win. Both are good styles, but what makes them great are individual practitioners.

How many JKD experts do you see winning any MMA events these days?
That should answer your question.
