Don't you agree that Labradors are the perfect dogs?

I've had other dogs in my life and nothing compares to labradors. What do you think?

All breeds are perfect for the right home. A lab is probably the best dog for your family and lifestyle! Labs are great dogs, but not for everyone. I dont have the energy to exercize a lab, so a lab wouldnt be the perfect dog for my lifestyle. I've fallen for the Chinese Crested, I think they are absolutly perfect.. at least for me.. but they are not for everyone either.

Im glad you've found the perfect dog for you! :)

100% disagree.

I have known some Labradors to be okay the rest are just fat lazy/aggressive dogs. When my Akita was a puppy at least three labradors tried to attack him. They don't have the desire to do that now he is grown ( wonder why)
I am not saying they cannot be great dogs. In the family there is a lab/german shepherd. That dog was the best guard dog I have known but very, very aggressive. I would not own a Labrador there are just too many other better dog breeds out there. Sorry but you asked

Personally I am not a big fan of Labradors. I have come into contact with plenty. If raised by the wrong person, they are very destructive and can be impossible to take on walks. They can easily overpower an adult. They need tough love. I have met some wonderful ones as well. Don't get me wrong. If properly trained, they can be wonderful. I love the energy but I'm a small person and don't like that they can overpower me. I'm a big fan of Jack Russell Terriers and I know many many people who hate that breed but I own two and wouldn't want it any other way. They are perfect for me.

My neighbors have a yellow lab and she is quite an annoyance. I blame the neighbors though. They let her roam the neighborhood to become impregnated annually by any mut that can catch her and she poos in our yard...

Quiet Dog - ALL dogs will bark. You can train them to be quiet, but they won't be straight off. Good Size Dog (Like from cocker spaniel to labrador) - Many dogs will fit this. Friendly (Family dog) - Again, many dogs will fit this. It's all down to how you train and socialise. Un-Active Not needing very much exercise - All dogs need exercise. How much is "not very much"? Agreeable Easily Trainable - All dogs need a lot of training, especially as puppies. Healthy Overall - If you go to a good breeder, the puppy will be healthy. If you go to a BYB or a pet shop, it will most likely have something wrong with it. Vigilant (not needed but prefered) - What do you mean by this? I know what vigilant means, but a dog? Not Scary (LOL i think you can determine that;) - That's your perspective. Personally I find no dogs scary. Un-Aggresive - Again, all down to training and socialisation. Loyal - All down to how you treat the dog. Treat it bad and it is unlikely to be loyal to you. Able to be Alone (while @work) - As a puppy, really not advisable, but as it gets older, this could work. How long for? this dog is going to be outside for majority of the day. How long is "the majority". If it's going to be outside only when you're at work - provided it has food, water, a kennel, fencing etc, that's okay, but if it's when you are home to, and the dog is essentially and outside dog, that's really not fair. In all seriousness, if these are the qualities you want, the best dog for you is a stuffed toy or an easier pet. You aren't going to find a dog to fit these qualities and, if you think you do, that's going to be a horrible life for a dog, if you don't want to give it much exercise, want it to be easily trained and not bark, then expect it to be left outside most of the day with you not there.

Most of the time with the right owner labs become wonderful dogs. However, at first labs are a HUGE handful of dog. When they are little, they are as cute and lovable as they can be. Then all of a sudden they have these growth spurts in their sleep. They wake up with no clue they are three times the size they were the night before, so them knocking over tables and owners is very confusing to them. They have boundless energy and don't calm down at all it seems for the first two years. They are however beautiful , very friendly and so so very loyal. They are very intelligent and just oooozzzz love. You just can't help but be smitten even with all their growing pain faults.

No I do not agree.
A dog is only as good as his genetics and training. I have seen some really bad Labs that were aggressive and shy. A friend of mine owns one and has had to pay 4 different vet bills because of his dog attacking other dogs. I do not think that is a great dog.
I know what you are looking for is everyone to validate your opinion that they are wonderful dogs but I can not. Labs are a breed I am not interested in.

No, I really have to disagree with you.

Your lifestyle and personality is different from mine . . .therefore what you consider to be a perfect breed is not what I consider to be a perfect breed. The breed you consider perfect may just annoy the hell out of me.

I work for a woman who breeds Labradors in addition to running the pound, a boarding kennel, and breeding Boxers. She has six that I have to work with on a daily basis. Through those six, the many Labs that come through the pound, and the Labs owned by relatives . . .I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea what everyone sees in that breed. That breed and I are not compatible by any means, and I would never own one. Ever.

Labs are not very good watch-dogs. Labs shed a LOT! As puppies, labs can be very destructive. Labs can be more difficult than most dogs when it comes to training. Having said all that, I have owned 3-4 lab mix mutts and loved them to pieces. However, so far, in my dog raising experience, my "perfect" dog was a pitt-bull.

My pitt-bull never was mean towards anybody when I was around. He didn't care for visitors when I wasn't around (excellent watch-dog), he was playful when I was playful, serious when I was serious, easy to train, etc. Every dog breed is perfect for somebody.

no specific breed is perfect. I live in an apt building and there is a lab on my floor that is obnoxious. you cant walk in the hallway with out the dog barking out of control it pees in the elevator and jumps on everyone it passes. if you call that perfect than sure i guess but i see it as a nuisance. There are many labs that are great dogs but many that aren't it all depends on how its trained.

I love my lab. She is 5 or 6 now and still acts the same as when she was a puppy. Full of energy. They are great dogs.
