NO! 1995 was the very first model year for the Dodge Neon. Even through a 12 years of changes, tweaks, and revisions, the Dodge Neon continues to be a poorly reliable car at best. I'm being generous here.

From personal experience I can tell you, the brake system is poorly designed. It comes with a quirky 3 spd automatic transmission. The engine seals don't last. And its gas mileage is WAY overrated. Ahhhhgh, I'm having a hard time writing right now. I'm not sure how to convey the 101 things that can, and may go wrong with this car.

This I will say... It's not a safe car by any definition. (1995 Neon)

It would be a terrible investment. You would spend ALOT more than $1000 in the long run simply keeping the thing maintained. Best put a few more dollars up front for a more reliable car. A used Honda Civic with twice the miles is a safer, more reliable bet than your Neon.

I have in my family a new driver with a Neon, they are great little cars that are sporty and have a tuff engine that will run into the 200,000 mile range.

You will not regret buying this car, however make sure you take a person with a know-how of cars, or better ask the person who has the car to take it to a service station for a quick once over, tell them your thinking of getting the car and if they could find anything on the car that should make you worrie.

Just so you know, people have gotten this engine to do 9's in the 1/4 mile.

Good Luck

The sidestep or Plymouth Neons are stable reliable autos. the only properly-known problems with them be it a ninety 5 or an 05 is the gas pump.I even have replace some HUNDRED in the previous 11 years.

your getting a car at 15? i saw you wait maybe a year, get more experienced, and maybe get a new car or you could get a better used car whether its looks or age/mileage

if i were you i would just use your mom or dads car and if they get mad, tell them to buy you a new car haha thats how these things work

They have a problem with blown head gaskets. If you get one that's had the head gasket replaced you will be better off because they usually change the timing belt too.

My first car was a Neon and it was great. Plus, it felt good to buy American. I see what's happening in Detroit and it's a shame :(

It will be a good first car, easy to fix, and cheap to fix.
