Are you willing to pay the price?
All of us have notions of how all this works but none have proof.

We base our beliefs on:

----Culture:
Whether you conform or rebel against your culture it is still a creative force in your belief system.

----Lore:
Lore is the “Physics” of why a faith works and is an attempt to organize abstract concepts into a format that gives life meaning.

----Familiarity:
Familiar things give us comfort whether the thing itself is good or bad. The devil we know is better than the devil we don’t know.

----Emotion:
We all know the impact of emotions on our faith.

Obviously the “Truth” is not encapsulated in any one believer or in any one religion. If it were they could answer our questions and all other religions would vanish shortly after. People from all lands have experienced moments of “Truth” usually causing big changes in themselves if not in their culture.

Now to the heart of the question: Can you look past your culture and your familiar lore braving the fear of the unknown and learn an alien concept. Can you understand a different viewpoint without judging it and without bias just to understand better?

What we seek isn’t where we seek it friends.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

When the tongues of flame are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.

Thor you surprise me.. aren't you the one that said:

About me: I am a seeker - of The Truth. It means that I am not a follower of any religion. I like to read spiritual and religious books and discuss the contents - among others in the Yahoo group
Planetary Enlightenment.

Christanti I had to wait till my bad mood passed so I could get my “glow on” for a new picture because I deleted my other Icon by accident. Good thing too because I glowed pure white for the very first time to make this one. I'll keep both Icons light and dark so I can give a mood indicator. Nice thought.

I love these answers and plan to keep this question up for a long time.

What your really trying to do is convince everyone to become Gnostic's.
Pretty slick though, for only a Gnostic would ever see you coming.
What you forget though, is your a person that is trying to convince a world full of people that think the world is flat, that it is actually round. Hows that going for you.
You see unless raised a Gnostic, you just can't flip a switch and go there. It's a long journey, one that takes you through many religions and many paths to get to.

Gnosticism is the first step of 10, to become an Illuminati.
An Illuminated one. An Illuminati is the first step of True Wisdom. My point is, you just don't one day say, "I think I want to be a Gnostic". Because their isn't a thought in the decision. YOU JUST KNOW! It's a calling.

So my point is, you'll never convince anyone of anything.
It's something that happens on it's own. I've wasted years on it, but I've come to realize. It is only stopping, my own Ascension:)

P.S I loved the picture with the glowing eyes, this one not so much. Please change back.

I think most people want the Truth... the problem is, just about everyone wants THEIR Truth... anything that supports their preconceived notions of the Truth. I think it would be safe to say that most want others to validate the familiar lore of their culture, rather than go out themselves and actually look, without that bias. You're right, all of these things help build a person and their belief. I think one of the biggest problems is when the majority claim that the lore they deliver is the only truth and the rest just follow along with it... with the idea that "how can ALL of those people be wrong?" Easy, they could have built on something that wasn't the Truth to begin with, but after a few generations it becomes a part of that lore and therefore they see it as only Truth.

Yes, I want the Truth. And yes, I am willing to pay the price. The price, as I see it, is losing my self-made illusions and approaching something new without bias (though this in itself is extremely difficult, especially if others are involved - as we see in here time and time again). And taking the time to do some actual research instead of just reading half a book agreeing with parts and then claiming the whole thing truth.

I agree 100%, no one believer or religion has the "Truth". I feel we each have pieces of it and the only way we are going to see the whole picture is if we work together.

All things exist as fragments in this world and this is only reflective of our inner divisions in mind, the world within that abides segmented. Truth is what you become, until then what you have is our individual understanding of the truth, which grows in capacity as you move up the ladder towards becoming. Which means that ones observation or interpretation is filtered through their foundation, which being the light of mind that they have which of course is passed down to them as development they have reached at this particular stage. So much like a tower, the ones who are stationed on the lower floors can only see from their level of the building outside, but those above them can see more of the city, until they get to the put where they reach the rooftop adn can see the whole of the city in its true glory.

No religion has the truth, the have fragments by which they build their elementary doctrines on. Religions are as useful as they can help you, but this help comes to a point where the strength of the various religion becomes its greatest obstacle to overcome. This is when one becomes mechanical and enters into an illusion of truth, the conquest is to become the truth, religions only serve as stepping stones to that very feat, since all have a valuable aspect but are overrun with a mess of immaturity and corruptible elements.

The only faith that there should be in is the laws, everything returns to its source. Be faithful in the return, by living the what you have in hand today. One is to grow into the truth, just as one doesn't go to heaven they grow to heaven. To quote the Nazirene Gospel/Gospel of light/Gospel of the Holy Twelve,

"God gives you all truth, as a ladder with many steps, for the salvation and perfection of the soul, and the truth which seems today, you will abandon for the higher truth tomorrow. Press toward perfection."

I paid the price, and it was worth every penny.

My journey started when I first questioned the faith I was "born into," which was Judaism. More than 21 years later, I am still questioning my truth, looking for validation that it is indeed the One truth. In my heart, in my soul, I know it is -- but just as we are always challenged by God, I insist upon challenging myself and my beliefs to ensure I can still hold true to them. That is how I know and confirm my truth is the One.

I walked a path not taken by many. In the process of becoming self-absorbed, which is essential to walking a path of self-mastery, I lost everything I owned. I learned the truth of family, friends, teachers, need vs. greed, and most of all, I learned that humility is the truth and that is what will set me free. Losing it all we learn what is important. Losing it all, we develop a sense of gratitude for the simplest of things -- having a pillow, a blanket, hot water for a shower -- the things we take for granted. Losing it all we learn how little we truly need and how fulfilled our lives can be without everything. Losing it all, we learn TRUTH.

Chosen we were and chosen we'll be
If God in Man we can only see.
Eliminate war, death and destruction
Enlighten usd all to our own resurrection.
Taking us always to new heights and then taking us back to remember when simplicity ruled our days and nights with humility teaching us what would be right.
Humble I am;
Humble I remain.
Anything else will give me no gain.
Selah! my Lord, Selah! I cry;
I will no longer question why.
For now I know the truth of me:
Humility must set me free.
I embrace with Love this trinity of Angel, Man and Child
Giving me humility: no more the truth beguiled.

I always seek the truth myself. I don't get bogged down in dogma. The price I pay is through the hours and hours of reading that I do. It does take time and an open mind.

I agree culture shapes many belief systems and therefore is an inhibitor that has to be overcome.

Truth is my specialty; my primary "handle" on-line is Truthist.

Infinite, Absolute, Eternal, Universal Truth is not an "IT";
HE IS I AM
I AM as I AM
I AM that I AM; that I Am that I Am that I Am; that I am that I am that I am (to infinite finite diversities)

Some of my part in Him:

Year AD1939 through May 23, AD1977, I am a Living Truth

May 24, AD1977 and eternally, I Am a Living Jesusonian TRUTH

Now you know, in Spirit within, ALL TRUTH, and may in Eternity know all Truthists (Truth-lovers) personally.

Sincerely continue to seek some Truth, Beauty and Goodness and SUDDENLY, UNEXPECTEDLY you may also realize in Spirit-led soul and mind that you are also a Living Truth Person ! I am of I AM to I Am of I AM

I can't agree that "lore" is the physics of why a faith works. In what way do you mean "works?" It is rather the psychology of "faith" in relation to physics, that causes people to cling to destructive religious dogma. (speaking from the fundamentalist bible belt of America) They want to 'believe' in the miraculous as possible, when it is a practical matter of 'cause and effect.'

We all tend to agree that the "truth will set you free" and that it somehow is back at the beginning where each of us started. Even mythology has pounded that in - consider Theseus and Odysseus as two examples of 'transcendence' of the body-level identity (and inculturated behavior) finally after much tribulation, returning home to 'kingship.' Or religious examples like the ego-death and tranfiguration of Jesus ("the kingdom of heaven is within") and his message of detaching from ego relationships for resurrection of the authetic Self. Buddha offers a less melodramatic approach, but it is the same. No religion - at its core - lacks the call to return to being through purification of "culture, lore, familiarity, and emotion."

The best description of "truth" I've come across - and of course it has no relation to provable facts - is that it refers to each individual's truth (from the beginning). It is the 'abstract' experience of reality we long for that is unique to each alone. Nothing can satisfy this longing/need except 'unity' with it but the brainwashing of our culture can make it almost impossible to remember. It is the unchangeable part of us. Our pain/hell in this life directly correlates to the depth of socialization that separates us from reuniting with it remembering it over the ego static. The fact that our multi-dimensional reality mirrors the contents of consciousness - including learned/hidden ego beliefs - offers our ONLY way back - mazelike though it is. We need Ariadne at the other end of the string - our only connection to love - to hang on to and retrace our steps of 'unlearning' back to the beginning.

Our only purpose? To remember the "truth" about what we love and become what we're capable of becoming.

Excellent! The rose and the fire are one, as is the coyote and the human. The price is to risk going against the thought police. Ahh, the return to innocence and the reward is to know you are completely alone, but hey, I have this real dream I'm dreaming.
You are a true Bodhisattva Gnostic, knowing the dream and having compassion for the dreamers who think they are real. Thus knowing the *real* dream.

"If, what you seek you can not find within yourself, then you will never find it outside of yourself". (wise old Witch saying and I can't remember who first said it)

Basically, it means that we ALL have the truth already in us, God(ess) reveals it to us each and every moment of our lives. It is THAT truth that tells us right from wrong, whether we are following our OWN paths to enlightenment. My path is most likely NOT your path and vice versa. The Truth is, Deity has a different message for each of us as individuals, according to our spiritual needs. THAT is the truth we must seek and find within our hearts and souls. That is the Truth that we EACH must listen to and follow. We simply CAN'T find that kind of Truth in any book. We must ALL write our OWN book and keep it in our hearts for safekeeping. We must EACH, follow our OWN paths and be completely accepting of the fact that no one else can nor should follow our paths but muct follow THEIR own paths too.Spiritual Truth is NOT the same as a Scientific Truth. Each of us has a different spiritual need and only the Truth that is found in our own hearts can lead us to that fulfillment.

Brightest Blessings,
