Contrary to what ray said, I, being educated in Pakistan, have been taught theory of evolution but that is all it is: a scientific theory which might and might not be true. Just like a lot more scientific teories like Bohr's atomic model, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, Copernician model of universe and I can go on and on. So basically, it is good to expose young learning minds to diverse ideas and theories. Besides, science does not necessarily always contradict religion. For example, I have learned about relativity of time from science and this has helped me tremendously in understanding the concept of God's omniscience.

Similarly, evolution is a theory which may or may not be true. Religion, to me, is not there for scientific guidance but for moral and pratical guidance in life. Islam says that man was created by God. How was he created, what exactly was the process, how much time did it take are not subjects of religion. Religion is focused on the dos and don'ts of life and encourages man to find out the hows and whys himself.

well, in islam we do not believe in evolution, these are the reasons:
1. we believe that this life is a test and that everything happens for a reason for e.g. GOD has put us on earth to lead and follow him, we were not placed here out of sheer coincidence as the darwism theory suggests.
2. adam and eve are believed to be the first humans, therefore we wernt evolvoed through apes or what not.
3. i really myself dont understand evolution its a strange contradiction, as for creationism we muslims beleive that god created adam and eve, then from there the human race grew. so thats my answer hope it helped!!

I actually was......it was explained to me by our Islamic teacher at school......and by several others.......that......God created the man Dam and Eve.....after the whole satan Fiasko......God exiled Adam to Earth...which he created in 6 days (God's time) which is worth about 6 billion years here i think.....first the dinosaurs ruled the erath yada yada yada(not the exactly the way my teach told it though) but.....after their death....God sent Adam to Earth......through Evolution as it played a part too....Adam and Eve were the first true homo sapiens on Earth......that got evolved from apes.....and then on and so froth.....and Adam was the very first prophet....coz he taugh his half witted children/siblings (incest GROSS).....about Islam......and Allah......and here we are....fully witted and the half witts are the other non-muslims on Earth...:P....You see the Key to the whole Evloution and creation of Earth lies in Time....God created earth in 6days.....but God and us mortals don't share the same time lines......get it....one day of God may equal a zillion or billion days here....you get the picture right.....

Yes, but the teachers keep disappearing. Islam does not deal with reality any better than christianity.
