If I drove to New York City from out of town, where's the cheapest place to park? I'm guessing somewhere outside the city. Is there somewhere I could park and still have quick and easy transportation into Manhattan?

I'll be there for a day.

Also if anyone could give me the price range they're talking about.

You don't say for how long. If it's just for the day, it makes more sense just to drive in to Manhattan & look for something close to where you want to be & dig into your pocket for the $$. The time & train fare you save will more than make up for the parking cost. Go to nycgarages.com for maps & rates of all 450 plus private parking garages. If you have the patience & flexibility you can even still find places on the street without meters.

Forget about Manhattan unless you have the money to spend in those parking garages. Try Astoria or Long Island City Queens. Just drive around and look for a parking space. Make sure you read the signs, some streets are parking only for certain hours of the day and other parking is meters, so bring plenty of quarters.

If you are driving in midtown or lower Manhattan, the closer you are to the river (East and Hudson), parking a car is inexpensive. You are a couple of minutes walk to most areas. If you are parking at night, note the area. If there are few pedestrians, you may want to take a taxi to the parking areas instead of walking.
