Those that claim that your founding fathers were religious, you are very mistaken and do not even know your own history.
Your founding fathers were deists, not Christians.
Many of your Religious Right activists have attempted to rewrite history by asserting that the United States government derived from Christian foundations, that your Founding Fathers originally aimed for a Christian nation. This idea simply does not hold to the historical evidence.
Of course many Americans did practice Christianity, but so also did many believe in deistic philosophy. Indeed, most of your influential Founding Fathers, although they respected the rights of other religionists, held to deism and Freemasonry tenets rather than to Christianity.
IN ANY CASE , WHY ARE YOU SO RELIGIOUS?
Why do you give more importance to the Bible than science or history?

It is sad that a nation founded on the principle of separation of church and state would eventually flounder back into medieval beliefs and superstitions. Our founding fathers, especially Thomas Jefferson, a true scientist, historian, and artist, would turn in his grave if he were to see the resurgence of these primitive rites and beliefs. This rebirth of ancient rituals probably is the product of a society which has become unsatisfied with it's self and is beginning to lose the true meaning of democracy. As we kill more men, women, and children abroad, as we torture more people in secret prisons, and we we try to forcibly impose our culture abroad, the more religious we become. Religion is making us harder and more ruthless. It is very strange!

If you really think about it... God is man's excuse for why things happen. Maybe some people need religion in their lives to function in society. If you look at it, the rules of a religion such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. go hand in hand with the rules of society. They tell us not to steal from our neighbors, and some people need that, so they don't go out and rob everyone. They tell us not to kill another person, and if we do kill someone, we will go to hell, and be punished for eternity. Some of us don't need a religion to tell us that killing is wrong. If we went around killing each other, we would not be able to form a functioning society, nor would we be considered intelligent species

We probably seem so. That is because the "bible thumpers" are so vocal about their views and so insistent on converting us "heatherns". They really have a hold on politics these days in America. Please do not judge all Americans based upon this. Note. If our government were to mandate that we all attend or be affiliated with a church.......a brand new war would break out...trust me.

The Christians were the Tories who held to the Biblical teaching that ones leaders were God selections and thus it was a sin to rebel against their rule no matter that the rule was unfair.
We are now religous because its expected in the Private sector. Whats funny is that in the Public Sector being religous is a detraction.

I think it's from the first Europeans here.
Remember the first Europeans here weren't businessmen or adventurers. They were religious groups trying to escape the Catholic Church.
So Europe has seen the error in over zealously
But I think America missed out.

I've wondered that myself.
As an American with some actual knowledge of history, I can practically feel the Founding Fathers rolling in their graves at the theocracy America has become.

A poor, underfunded educational system. Personally, I blame the British. I mean really. Whose idea was it to populate a new continent with religious zealots wearing belt buckles on their heads?
