We are stationed at Fort Riley but my husband has not been overseas and wishes to volenteer to go but can not get anyone to tell him how he can find out if a unit needs him. If anyone knows please let me know, there are sooo many soldiers over there for the second and third time and he just wants his chance to do his duty and let some of them stay home. Oh he is a light wheel macanic.

Pretty well any unit at Ft Hood,Ft Stewart or Ft. Carson will go if they aren't gone already. I hear that the Hawaii bases are sending folks here directly.

Just to clarify, less than 5% of all graduates of the US Army Airborne School ever serve in the 82nd Airborne.

I can tell you this as far as a unit that needs him... The unit he is in now needs him. When it is time to reenlist he can ask his re-up NCO what units are available, then check those units against the upcoming deployment roster and reenlist to go to one of those units. The Army Times does a great job of announcing what units are scheduled to deploy in the coming year. ( The even get in right well over half the time) A better source is the public portal on the DoD website. Its tough to navigate but the info is there.

THEN, when you end your internship and get approved you will possibly properly be direct commissioned interior the protection tension as a wellbeing practitioner - Captain (O-3) and function a doctor. sure, determine's basement is high quality for now. Have endurance. save the money. Is your husband taking community college credit? He could do scientific technical jobs like X-ray technician, etc, so as which you the two can serve in a scientific ability once you grow to be a doctor. tell him "I" stated: "no person "rather" desires to have been given to Afghanistan or Iraq. they're "merely" asserting that to be macho." as properly, our next warfare would be in Iran, North Korea, Venezuela or Mexico. If he maintains to be interior the reserves he would be going. maximum suitable desires, Larry Smith Senior grasp Sergeant, USAF (Ret.) First Sergeant

He could muster up his courage and volunteer for Airborne training (Jump School). Once he completes it, he is almost guaranteed a slot in the 82d Airborne Division. This unit will get him over there in almost zip time. That's one way to go.

He can't wait until next year to deploy? He can call his branch manager and as him, but I doubt they'll move him if his unit's already set to deploy.

i don't think he really has a choice whether or not he goes overseas. If he's needed overseas, someone will tell him he's going to be deployed. Ask his commanding officer what units need help
