Yes indeed. Everyone (including Christians) feels sorry for Linus waiting patiently for something that does not exist. But I have to admit that must of us (including atheists) think Lucy is a bit of a jerk. The reason of course is that Linus is a child, and children are entitled to letting the imagination get the best of them.

Yes, it does. I always read a similar sort of metaphor into that bit of Peanuts.
