I had my tubes tied 2 years ago after my son was born. I was going through a very hard time and decided to do this during a very stressful time. Now I am wondering if I made a mistake. I am blessed with the children that I have but am bothered that I will never be pregnant again. Does anyone have any experience with this?

No you cannot conceive after having your tubes tied. You would have to go through a reversal, and some times it is not successful. In the later procedures, the tubes have a section cut out, and the end is cauterized burning the end shut. If this technique has been used, it is usually not reversible. Not all tubals are done with this proceedure however. Go to a counselor to help you work through this

Reversal of Tubal Sterilization

Tubal ligation reversal is a successful treatment for many couples. The success of the operation depends upon several factors including:

The female’s age
The amount of fallopian tube that was damaged at the time of sterilization
Whether electrocautery was used as the electrical burn often spreads to, and damages, adjacent tissues.
The length and health of the remaining fallopian tube
Tubal reversal microsurgery is a straightforward surgical procedure where the segment of the damaged fallopian tube is removed and healthy tissue is rejoined to produce a functional fallopian tube.

Prior to surgery, it is important to ascertain the patient’s candidacy for the procedure. It is also necessary to determine if there is a good chance that the surgery will result in a pregnancy by ruling out other potential causes of infertility. The following tests should be performed prior to considering tubal reversal surgery:

Semen analysis to insure that the male partner is fertile
A thorough evaluation of the previous operative report detailing the sterilization procedure and the amount of damage to the tubes. Review of pathology reports is also helpful
In patients over 35, a day 3 FSH and estradiol blood test should be performed to exclude premature menopause and decreased fertility
Documentation of ovulation by day 21 progesterone blood tests
A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is helpful in documenting how much tube is still attached to the uterus. This is important as anastomosis made “tube-to-tube” has a significantly higher success rate than when the tube is connected to the uterus.
Once a patient is deemed suitable for tubal reversal, the procedure is performed using the latest microsurgical techniques. The hospital stay and time off work are minimal.

Yes since it happened there is a chance of getting pregnant again.... Unfortunately for you it seems maybe one of your tubes were not ligated completely or it grew back togather..... If you dont want to use other birth control-you might want to consider another tubal ligation. I had my ovary removed maybe 8 years ago because of a tumor growing on it-not cancerous, then last year I went in for a tubal ligation and instead had my other ovary removed. That is extreme to have both ovaries removed. Yet the ovary I had left kept on getting cysts on it and when I ovulated it caused severe pain. Instant menopause isnt the greatest either. Maybe too much info? Sorry. At least I know for sure I wont get pregnant! lol

I agree with all of those who have already answered, but I was just wondering, were they tied or were they burnt? Tied, that may make it a little easier, but like they said you might need help in conceiving. Good Luck to you. And are you sure this is what you want? Has the stressful time gone away? or could it come back. Just think about it all. Good Luck

well how long have they been tied and it sorta can be reversed but most of the time scar tissue is so thick it really just blocks the tubes so much that if you do get pregnant it is a tubal pregnancy and has to be terminated anyway but ask several doctors about what can be done

Just have them untied and you can get pregnant again. I know this may sound weird but my High School Gym teacher had hers tied and then 3 years later she had them untied and got pregnant. She was a pretty young teacher, like 20 years old and she talked about everything to her students, a very nice teacher.

A reverse tubal ligation surgery is possible, but difficult. That is the only way you could get naturally pregnant again.
