Unfortunately it gets worse before it gets better! It could be weeks or even a few months before you are really going to see some results. Just give it time!
If you still don't think it's doing what it is suppose to, then talk to your doctor about possibly upping the dose. I started out on 40mg a day when I was 16. I was a very small girl (only 90lbs). After a few months the doctor upped the dose and when I stopped taking the medication I was up to 80mg a day (40mg twice a day).
Good luck to you!

Okay, Randy. I assume you're fairly desperate to get rid of the acne, right? I'm going to give you an ancient eastern medicine method (we don't know how it works, but it does) of treating acne. I had my own son use it, and his face was like a baby's backside in less than a week. No meds, no needles, no pain.
First, take off all metal objects. Metal blocks energy flow. Second, get in a comfortable position, the more relaxed you are the better it works. Take your left palm and place it on your right calf. Take your right palm and place it on your left calf. Stay like that for at least 1/2 an hour. Watching TV or listening to music is okay. You should see a marked improvement (depending on how many/long you do it) within just a few days. I hope we can get you off of that accutane!
The name of this method is KI. My sister is a practitioner. I'm including a website for the "university" where my sister trained. It may have some good info for you.
Best wishes

ive had bad acne since i was about 13, i personally stopped taking accutane because i had really bad side effects. i was on it for a total of 1 week and in that week, i got depressed, my face got worse, it got really sensitive to the point that when i got my eyebrows waxed at the hair salon (like i normally do with NO problems) and my skin came off with it! terrible terrible experience....Accutane is a last resort for those who have tried everything in the world (like i did) and have no where else to turn, hence taking accutane. i just couldnt continue with the side effects... like any other product (they say) that it should get worse before it gets better, i dont like the sound of that.....just make sure you have a daily routine.
at 20 yrs old i think i found the perfect combo for my face , i use Tazorac in the morning and clyndomycin at night. look them up or ask ur doctor, my face is not clear yet , but its the best it has ever looked. hope this helped

I have been on Accutane in the past and remember that the dermatologist gradually increased my dosage over the course of treatment. Also, it takes a while for it to get in your system and really start working so don't be concerned over a break out a couple weeks in.
On a positive note, my last course of treatment was three years ago and I haven't had an acne problem since.

The medication is known to cause an intial breakout/flare up. It is totally normal. Some patients get flare ups so bad that it is worse than the acne they have ever had in their whole life. The good news is after the flare ups subside, a majority of patients see a great improvement in complexion. My cousin took it and the initial flare ups looked like hell went loose but after he finished two courses of accutane he is completely clear.

OMG!!! ACCUTANE...My cousin was taking this for his acne and he went temporarily blind. I took it and was sick all the time.
I had EXTREMLY bad acne. This is going to sound like an infomercial, but I used Proactive and it REALLY improved my skin within 2 weeks. By a month I saw dramatic results.
