Catechism of the Catholic Church on Organ Transplants

2296 Organ transplants are in conformity with the moral law if the physical and psychological dangers and risks incurred by the donor are proportionate to the good sought for the recipient. Donation of organs after death is a noble and meritorious act and is to be encouraged as a manifestation of generous solidarity. It is not morally acceptable if the donor or those who legitimately speak for him have not given their explicit consent.

It is furthermore morally inadmissible directly to bring about the disabling mutilation or death of a human being, even in order to delay the death of other persons.

I don't know why people like madpol1 feel the need to spread lies about the Catholic Church. It's not like the Catechism isn't online and available for free. The Catholic Church is not "against it", nor is there a "Catholic Doctrine that says that the body must be kept whole for the Resurrection Day."

This is what the Catholic Church teaches:

"Donation of organs after death is a noble and meritorious act and is to be encouraged as a manifestation of generous solidarity." -- Catechism of the Catholic Church #2296

Yes, I believe the Church is OK with organ donations, I think transplants can take place in Catholic hospitals.

I don't know the RCC position on it, but I just had to get my DL replaced and take an eye test and I signed up again to be an organ donor.

Once I'm dead, I won't need my organs anymore and God won't need them to resurrect me.

Technically, they're against it because of Catholic Doctrine that says that the body must be kept whole for the Resurrection Day.

But there's never been an offical pronouncement on the specific issue of transplants that I'm aware of.

I hear priests donate their organs quite often, usually to young boys. They are doing the Lards work you know.

It's an abomination for one man to touch another man's organ during or after his lifetime!

What? That isn't what you were talking about?
