I'm sorry about your diagnosis. Your oncologist should have given you a prognosis, if they didn't or you have forgotten, call the office and have them tell you. None of us here know, and guessing would just be mean.

No one, including your doctor, can answer that question. I'm sorry about your diagnosis, I've done a couple rounds with cancer and fully expect that it will get me in the end.
One thing that I found helpful, and have recommended to others, is Steven Jay Gould's essay titled "The medium is not the Message" which I am sure you can google. Enjoy your otherwise good health as much as you can.

Speak with your oncologist about Tomotherapy and incorporating this and other therapies into your treatment plan. Tomo uses pulse modulated radiation linked to a CT scanner to precisely target and treat tumors. It treats the tumors without affecting surrounding healthy tissue. Also, several new cancer drugs have become available recently. Don't let anyone put an expiration on your life. Research and consider everything you can pertaining to your condition. Maintain a high protein, low sugar diet, exercise and keep up your strength-because you are at war with those tumors. Best of luck to you & chin up!

How long do you want to live, Bob? You could outlive us all if you want to.
I cured my own Stage 4 cancer in two weeks...nine years ago.
It was easy. I used freshly grated habeneros pepper and freshly grated garlic on bread covered in butter each day.
I also took a tablespoon of mint flavored emulsified cod liver oil (Twin Lab.) If I'd been losing weight or had fluid retention, I would have used evening primrose oil.
This isn't wacky. About a year ago researchers at UCLA shrank tumors 80% by using hot peppers by themselves. By adding freshly grated garlic, cancer cells don't stand a chance.
The oil, helps to restore a balance to the metabolism, which is important. I kept taking the cod liver oil for six months.
Cancer is a weak cell. Making it go away is easy.
Good luck and be well.

i'm 19 with skin cancer.... but i still dont think i can relate....much...
but... with my minimal knowledge of the world of carcinoma........ stage 4 isn't the worst!!.... in the esophogus...though...at prett much any stage... will leave you deformed under any surgery..
left alone...maybe with chemo and stuff... you could still possibly be cured 100%....
otherwise.... stage 4 is kidna high... and again.... im no expert and i hope you do not criticize me for assumption... or portray me as that young generation who don't care for their old.....(keep in mind i have cancer too...).... my guess is another 2 years..... give or take a few months. but... i know of someone who had a stage 5 colon cancer.... who lived an extra 15 years than what the docs had expected...
don't give up pops.... you're mental health can directly effect your physical delimna with those cells that wont stop reproducing....

I'm really sorry . I had my epiglottis removed, but they caught me early. Hated that esophageal probe thing. Get an abdominal feeding tube before you start treatment, even then you'll be skinny Bob. Talk to your Oncologist and get a second opinion. Also, don't listen to the pepper nutcase. Good luck. God Bless.
