Doesn't anyone realize that illegal immigration is going to ruin the U.S.? Those in favor for amnesty are either ignorant or illegal them self. I mean, eventually the illegals will run us dry. They take money in for their benefit, but don't give any of it back (mainly taxes). They're demanding that their language is taught in schools which costs the government more money to initiate those programs, they're using up all of the supplies at hospitals and schools. Why are some people so stupid when it comes to immigration? The facts are right in front of your nose!

If you read STATE OF EMERGENCY by Pat Buchanan, he argues that the perception by politicians is that minorities will be offended and not vote for them if they support a crackdown on illegal immigration.
But the truth is, a majority in both parties would support a crackdown, a majority want it, and a majority think it is long overdue.

Even among legal immigrants, a majority (less than among U.S. born, but still a majority) think giving welfare benefits and legal status to illegals isn't right and don't want it.

And it makes sense. Even legal immigrants' jobs are threatened by illegal immigration, and it drives down their wages too, makes their tax dollars pay for medical care, welfare benefits, and prisons too.

If I were a legal immigrant, who filled out the paperwork in my home country, and waited a year or so to get legal entry into the United States, paid all the costs, jumped through all the hoops to be a legal citizen, it would REALLY piss me off if they just handed amnesty to illegals who snuck across the border and broke all the rules.

I imagine many legal immigrants feel that way.

The solution is to put up a double-fence along the entire Mexican border, triple the border guard, triple the coast guard, and stop the influx cold.
Then when the borders are sealed, INS can focus on the illegals already here, heavily fine employers of illegals, and without work, they'll mostly just go home, and INS can track down the rest.
All we need is a President with the will to do it. Every poll shows the entire nation will support it.

You raise good points about the strain immigration puts on the US, but you've omitted the fact that immigrants (even illegal ones) perform labor that needs to be done. If it weren't for them, many more US citizens would have to take unskilled positions. Then, not only would fewer people have the luxury of a white-collar job, but the US economy would be less based on technology and service, which most likely would entail a lower standard of living overall.

The issue is more complicated than it might seem, and there are plenty of statistics to support the other side. I'd suggest doing a quick Google search to find more thorough arguments in support of opposing opinions. Don't assume that people who disagree with you are idiots.

Have you actually researched the facts, or is this just what you've always heard, always been told? Because I can tell you, there are plenty of people who are here illegally who are not a detriment to society, who are not using any form of state benefits, who ARE paying taxes via TIN or otherwise, and who are not DEMANDING anything, they are just grateful to be here because it means their families will survive.
You say the facts are in front of your nose, and the truth is there are no real FACTS one way or the other...There are only generalizations that have little to do with reality. Sure, there are illegals abusing the system, or committing crimes, and these people need to be deported. There are good people here too. It isn't as black and white as people want to think it is, it's got a lot of gray area like most major issues do.
However, getting on here and name-calling and insulting people will solve nothing. Matter of fact, my mother always told me my entire life that my opinion better be able to withstand opposition...If it wasn't any stronger than that, and I just resorted to insulting people, then maybe I was the ignorant one.

Though I can totally understand your frustration and I tend to side with refusing amnesty, my reasons for refusing are a bit more constructive and less aggressive. Though I agree many illegals take in cash under the table, that cash was taxed before handed out. Also, they are paying other forms of taxes simply by consuming within our borders. The demand for dual languages in schools is coming from legal immigrants. Though I disagree with promoting multiple languages within borders, it's certainly everyone's right to promote what they believe is right. Finally, your point of about illegals using all of our supplies at hospitals and schools is a bit stray... there are plenty of urban communities that are completely legal that waste just as much if not more space within our public schools and hospitals... but far worse than both of those is the number of legal ungrateful citizens that suckle off of wellfare and overpopulate our jails and mental institutions.

I simply wish for illegal immigrants to enter legally or make a good case as to why they had to escape. In their defense, if I was in their position, I would do exactly as they do. As long as we are willing to pay them under the table and keep our mouths shut about the ones we know about, the problem will continue.

Doesn't anyone realize that illegal immigration is going to ruin the U.S.?

Yes, we all do, and that's why we want to stop it. We all have different approaches to it though.

Those in favor for amnesty are either ignorant or illegal them self.

I am not illegal, and though I don't know it all, I don't consider myself to be ignorant.

I mean, eventually the illegals will run us dry. They take money in for their benefit... WHO TAKES MONEY FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S BENEFIT????

but don't give any of it back (mainly taxes).... SO YOU'RE SAYING NO ILLEGALS PAY TAXES, HMMM, TOO MUCH GENERALIZATION GOING ON.

They're demanding that their language is taught in schools which costs the government more money... NO THEY'RE NOT, THEY'RE ONLY ASKING FOR PROGRAMS IN THEIR LANGUAGE SO THAT THEY CAN LEARN ENGLISH.

to initiate those programs, they're using up all of the supplies at hospitals and schools.I DON'T THINK THAT LESS THAN 5% OF THE POPULATION CAN USE UP ALL THE RESOURCES....

Why are some people so stupid when it comes to immigration? THAT QUESTION KIND OF JUST MADE AN U TURN TOWARDS YOU.

The facts are right in front of your nose! FACTS?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

"eventually the illegals will run us dry?"
ok, I think you are pleading for some kind legalization for these people because then they wouldn't "get all this stuff for free" (which I don't think is the case).

You are wrong when you say they are "demanding that their language is taught in school" because 1, even if it were only Spanish, that's not happening, and 2, you actually think Spanish is the only language all illegals speak? my friend you are SO WRONG.
The only fact in front of my nose and yours, is that you are what you say others are, and you said in your question.

No country can keep it's integrity with unregulated borders. It is the President's and the member's of congress duties to protect this country. Step number one is protecting our borders. The issue is " legal immigration ". Legal immigration is fine. If you gotta break the law getting here.....what kind of citizen are you going to be and what disrespect have you already shown this country?

I'm beyond the point where I'm willing to make my standard, well-documented argument.

But, basically: legal citizens pay contributions to the federal government, and illegal immigrants fill high growth labor positions. Sectors such as agriculture depend on them, that is simply a fact.

Mass deportation will never happen, it is logistically impossible and it would tear the country apart with racial tensions the likes of which you cannot imagine.

So, draw your own conclusions on what the logical scenario should be.

Unfortunately, the airwaves are too saturated with outrageously misinformed talking heads, and racist opportunists are abound.
