If you or someone you know have or are suffering from Post dep, what helps you make it through the day? I'm on depression meds but i still keep breaking down at the smallest things. I'll be fine one moment, then one small thing can set me off to become angry. What are some things that helped you?

You just have to keep things in persepective. Use your logic to tell you..ok..this is just the hormones. I took omega 3's linseed oil, they are dietary supplements, but seemed to help regulate hormones a little. Are you doing this on your own? You should join a group, with other mothers in your position, which I know is hard to do when you're depressed and keep thinking you have nothing to offer. But when you do you wont regret it. If you have someone to help out, you need your rest, and you need to take care of yourself. For example if your baby cries for 15 minutes while you take a shower its better than you being miserable and stinky for hours, your baby can pick up on your feelings. Its a huge lifestyle adjustment, we all have trouble with it...

Knowing that you are not alone and that many other new moms are going through the same thing or have gone through it and survived.

Meds might help but it may be hard for you to get off of them and you may also fear of the depression returning when you get off as well.

What helped me was just taking a deep breath and telling myself I can get through the day. People gave me religious advice and it helped a little, but its best to look within yourself and just know life doesn't hand you anything you cannot handle.

Hope that helps

Understanding husband.
An extra set of arms to comfort the crying child
Somebody else makes supper
S-l-e-e-p
good food at appropriate intervals
another woman to talk with regularly, a friend who cares
getting up - dressed - and out into the fresh air and sunshine with a walk each day
reading each day, something inspiring like Psalms or poetry
Hugs
Back massages
Nursing my baby skin to skin helped me to bond, thinking less of myself and more of the life I hoped for for this baby.
Being inspired - going to church
Having pride when my baby was admired
When I was exhausted to the bone, having my husband take over while I caught a shower, a sweet smelling clean shirt, and a nap.
Having preschoolers who hug your knee and argue "My Mommie First!!!"
