WHAT is that accomplishing? We will never all agree or think completely the same way, even if we do share the same religion. Is it NOT OK to accept that we are all at different points in our lives, different levels of faith, with varying views on what our faith means?

meissen97: I understand completely what you are saying, but I am not referring to extremists here. I should have clarified that. I am talking about everyday, honest, decent people who practice their faith as they feel is appropriate and acceptable.

"I would assume anyone who condemns others who do not believe exactly as they do are so unsure of their own beliefs that any sort of dissension makes them uneasy and angry. "
That is what I believe as well, especially with what I have seen recently. Thanks for your input.

Absolutely and well said!....After all, we are not all on the same station on our road in life....we are all at differing stages and we need to support and understand each other and if we cannot understand than we cannot condemn, how the heck can one criticize something we are not able to comprehend?!......open ears, close mouths: that's how we learn.......

You're not having a good day are you? Well first of, here's a hug to make you feel better (((hug)))
What you have come to terms with is that just because someone shares the faith that you believe in, doesn't mean they are a good or kind person. Many people pick and choose which parts of a religion they follow and ignore or twist the rest.
Some like to set themselves up as an expert and lecture others. Just like a school yard bully, they get a kick out of putting down others to make themselves look better.
What I have come to learn, especially since joining this forum, is that you have to follow the path which you decided, through research and careful thought, to be the correct and good path. If you live true to this, NO ONE has the right to criticise you.
Take the moral high ground, ignore them, walk away and continue living your life as you see best according to your beliefs.
Don't let certain people in this forum get you down...it's not worth it!
Best of luck sweetie

I don't notice a lot of Buddhists, Atheists, Pagans, Hindus, Jews or Wiccans doing this? What group are you talking about?
I would assume anyone who condemns others who do not believe exactly as they do are so unsure of their own beliefs that any sort of dissension makes them uneasy and angry. The only thing it accomplishes is to make others see that religion in a bad light.

I agree with you.
Look what our leaders are doing. Bush has divided the country more than any president in recent memory and does nothing to acknowledge the fact that people have points of view other than his. Recently even the pope himself decreed that non-Catholic religions are false religions.
It's a sad state of affairs. Can't we all just get along?

I think openly attack and harshly criticize is subjective and views will vary on that too. In Christianity, we are told to teach and correct but that doesn't mean people will listen. Maybe it was done harshly or maybe it was well intentioned. Either way, you don't have to listen to it. Don't you believe in freedom of speech?
God Bless.

I know how you feel, Coz some people in the same belief with me attacked me with rude words, and made me feel so sad.
They said that I am not knowledgeable in my religion and I don't deserve to answer question in here coz my stupidity.
They may tell me a truth about my self, but they hurt me with their rude words, then I remind them about this verse:
"Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your Lord best knows those who go astray from His path, and He knows best those who follow the right way"
I hope they understand, knowledge without wisdom is nothing.
Don't worry honey, God knows best, who's sincere, and He judges us based on our intention.
and hug for you

Bravo, and preach it, Sister!!!!
Isn't it a shame that so many people bash each other in the name of "religion"...or lack of religion as the case may be.
Until we are willing to accept the person even when we do not agree with the opinion, our society is destined for disharmony.

To put that in perspective, Christians shouldn't harshly criticize the KKK? They are "of their faith."
Muslims shouldn't harshly criticize suicide bombers jihadists? They too are "of their faith."
Edit: They are practicing their religion as they see as appropriate. There are rules for slavery in the bible and killing of your enemies in the Qu'ran. Doing away with all religions would be one of the best ways to stop good people from doing bad. Religion gives a "just" reason for actions.
