if you had and drove an old car with no alarm on it, what is the most valueable item you would lock in the glove compartment? how much would it be worth? of course no one is going to say jewelry, but what about expensive cell phones? laptops, other electrical devices? in my case, i keep an item worth 500 dollars in my glove box in my car with no alarm. it is a handgun, now i want some opinions whether this is smart or not? i understand that losing this could get me into trouble, but is it really worth it to not have it in there? would you guys put or lock something with that value in your car?

Well, definitely not my kids, and they're more valuable to me than anything. But it's not very smart to leave your handgun in your glove compartment. Anything can happen to your car and a real criminal would have a field day with a gun that's not registered to them.

I think better not. You don't know what kind of people out there and they can do anything to break your car just to get something that they can sell or use. I have a friend that replaced her car window which costs lots of money compare to some Cds that someone took away, and the funny thing is those Cds cost nothing (she burned them herself) So, better don't leave anything valuable or at least do not reveal your stuffs visible in your car.

Leaving a handgun in a car is seriously STUPID. Carry it with you when you leave!! Get a permit if you need one. How would you feel if the gun were stolen and it was used in a murder?
Be a responsible gun owner...you give the rest of us a bad name.

I keep a hand gun in my vehicle at all times. But I don't lock it up in the glove box. I want it accessible.
(Yes I have a carry permit)

Leave NOTHING in your car - not even old clohing or empty
plastic carriers.

Leave the glovebox open so the junkies can see there is
nothing worth stealing in it.

i would never leave anything in a car,i never do,its not a wise idea to do this with any item,if i take anything with me it stays with me when i leave the car, this way i don't have to worry about it,good luck on it.

Yeah, let's think about that one. Someone breaks into your car, steals your gun, kills someone and that fingers you..yeah, I'd DEFINITELY leave my gun in my car @@

The most expensive thing I have in my car? $550 worth of carseats.

I leave nothing of value in my vehicles, neither monetary or sentimental. If your pistol is legal for you, I suggest deep carry, if it is not, I suggest you work toward that goal.

Nothing. I don't think I want to get caught with a gun either if I was you.
