I just feel extremely worried, of course. He says that nobody got killed where he is staying, but I still can't just depend on that.
I am feeling very depressed. He will only be gone for 45 days..
Any ways I can feel more comfortable?

Kaherine, it must be difficult for all kids who have to watch their fathers leave their homes and go overseas to fight in a war that so many people don't understand. If you know of any other kids who's parents have been deployed you'd be wise to try and speak with one of them and see what type of coping strategies they used to help them deal with this. Or maybe on the base where your dad is stationed they have some form of counselling for the kids and family of the servicemen. Investigate this also and see what you can't find out. Best of luck to you, your family and your father while he is away.

First, be careful not to place this burden on your father. Act brave and supportive so he doesn't worry about you.
Then, carry on your normal routine with the best you have. Work hard and focus on school and/or work. This is always a good strategy when you are upset about something that you can't change.
Check whether there are any support groups or activities in your area with others in the same situation.

it must be very hard to deal with your dad going to Iraq. You should be proud your dad is doing a great thing for our country he truly represents a great father. Remember this if you someone does good things it truly shows how great there soul is. Be optisimtic that your dad will be safe in life and if your pray to god truly helps you. Best of luck to father and my prayers that he is safe. Also remember how great of deed it is for your father being a great father and remember he stills love you

I'm sorry and it's gonna HURT!!!! no way around that. Our hardships in life do make us wiser stronger people. Let him know how much he is loved. You can't avoid him going away. You can support him you can talk to your family. Don't hide your feelings let your dad know what's on your mind. Out of all weakness grows strength.

Ways that i've seen people cope with it is they get involved in things that have to do with the war.
Or they do things like the soup kitchen make yourself feel good about YOU and hang with your friends talk to someone that makes is honest with you and will talk to you about about it. and comfort you.
Hope this helps
I'll pray for you i might not believe in church but i do believe in god and praying

his guardian angel will be with him and you pray for his safe return. not all go there die and hes ok you have to believe that and be happy for him showing he is fighting for his country. that isn't too long and its good for all to know hes fighting for freedom like we share here and hes doing this for good cause . please feel his brief stay is only very brief. and be happy he'll be fine.
