When there is a Dr. in the family, that designation always goes first ... so it should be Dr. and Mr. So-and-So.

Actually, "Phantom" is right...it would be Doctor Jane and Mister John Smith
I put the website below, but this is what it says for GUESTS; the same holds true for hosts
Couple (Woman is doctor)
OUTER ENVELOPE:
Dr. Marie and Mr. James Hunt
INNER ENVELOPE:
Dr. and Mr. Hunt

No no no. The woman is of the higher rank; therefore her name goes first. She worked hard for that title and few want you to just overlook that and put them as just "Mrs."
Doctor Christine Clayton
and Mr. Troy Clayton
I knew this from an etiquette book I bought but it is also on the following websites for you.

No. It should be Dr. Jane Jones-Smith and Mr. John Smith.
She is not Dr. John Smith.
You may want to avoid the whole thing by using the phrase, "together with our parents."
Example:
When I look in your eyes
I delight in your being
and when you take my hand
I delight in our being together
Together with our parents, we
BRIDE
and
GROOM
request the honour of your presence
as we begin a lifetime of togetherness
on DAY
YEAR
at TIME
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

you would say Mr. and Dr.
over half of the people at my wedding last month were this type of invite!! it gets very confusing, but you can go to any website with wedding etiquette and it can tell you exactly how to address them. davids bridal has a few examples under their invitations!

I would defiantly say Mr. and Dr. because a lot of people get upset if you leave that out. Or if you are really unsure just ask her how she would rather be addressed.

Yes, "Mr. and Dr." would be appropriate. It may confuse a few people, but hey... she didn't go to school for that long to be called Mrs.! Ha ha! =D Good luck!

Your printer where you are having the invites made has a book of all the rules. Another solution is to ask the groom's mother how she wants to be noted.
