How can Hell believing Christians reconcile the idea that their god is Love with the notion of Hell? What justification is there? How can Christians believe in Hell and never question the blatant contradiction that exists?

Free Will is not an answer. Your God supposedly made the rules that says that you go to Hell if you don't go to Heaven. Why not just no longer exist if he really loved you?

THINK PEOPLE.
If your God makes the rules then he's the one who set up the CHOICES. Why HELL?

If the wages of sin is death then how does one continue to live burning for all eternity in Hell as the Bible describes?

None of you Hell believers have really answered the question.
Why would your god who loves you make Eternal Torture in Hell one of the choices when he could have just said the choices were Heaven or Nonexistence? Isn't nonexistence more loving than Hell would be?

There is not one person on the face of the Earth that has to face eternal torment. There are, however, the devil and his angels that rebelled. These are destined to spend their time in eternal torment. So, a place has been prepared for them.
It's not a question of the ill will of God as much as it is the right judgment of God. God gave free will to mankind and instructed His creation in how to conduct themselves so that everything can remain in peace. Without provocation from Him and in the face of His generous provision, He was spurned. I don't believe God has judged something where He did not previously give the warning. He would therefore be fully justified in His actions.
It's His creation, and no matter how much someone doesn't like it, right is right. He has every right to do what He's doing, and can probably see better than we can why it's the best way.

Sorry Nice, I know you said only for Christians who believe in hell and I do not, but after reading some of the answers above I can only stand in shock that anyone would consider such a thing possible and still have any respect or love for a creator who would do such a thing. The same creator who calls us his children.
*sighs sadly*
edit: a valiant effort but alas, unless and until they put away their preconceived ideas and study the bible with an open heart and mind they will not come to the truth.
edit2: and for "fisher of men" below, my beliefs are strictly biblical based. They are not something I made up because I cannot accept the judgment of God. Start by trying to find where in the bible it says that the soul of man is immortal. It does not. Eternal torment is based on this belief which is not even taught in the bible. It is a repeat of the very first lie told in the bible by the serpent to Eve. "If you eat thereof you shall not surely die." By teaching eternal torment you are unwittingly repeating this same lie.

The thing is, hell is a place for those who absolutely positively no matter what in the world happens to them, will not follow god and will do everything they can to corrupt heaven, earth and any good people at all costs. All a person has to do is say, God I am sorry for what I have done, and in their heart believe it, then they are in hell no more. Whethor or not they are allowed into heaven, I have to assume if they ask to be with god, he would allow it. At the same time, most in hell would not ask for god, nor will ever repent in any way for anything they've done.
Those who teach christianity as otherwise, are wrong. In revelations it speaks of gods forgiveness, and effort to make people repent, and turn to him. Its not just a killing spree. The most evil and most harden hearts will need the most severe punishment.

Because God is also completely righteous, and heaven is completely without the darkness of sin. And God would like to keep it that way.
Which is why on Judgement Day, Heaven and Hell will be eternally separated once and for all, when Earth and Abraham's bosom are both completely dissolved.
By the way, nobody ever holds themselves accountable for their own decisions. I would ask you: If you choose to reject Jesus for who He claimed to be, and if everything He claimed was true, then don't you DESERVE the consequence of your choice?

Because no amount of punishment in Hell can redeem a sinner and give them a new nature that will obey God. Only Jesus Christ can do that (Romans 6:4).
If you don't find salvation through believing on Christ and His perfect sacrifice for your sins IN THIS LIFE, you go to Hell for eternity and pay for them yourself, forever.
You talk like God never gave you a way out of Hell.
John 3:16-18...
16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
18 "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We are created as eternal spiritual beings. God wants us to be in heaven with Him so much that He created a place so bad any rational person would make the choice He provided through His Son Jesus Christ to come to Heaven with Him. If it was just a somewhat uncomfortable place lazy people who don't have any sense would choose otherwise.

God is love and this is a fact, really I cannot think of any better way, than God coming to earth in the form of man(Jesus). It was through Jesus that God revealed himself. If you know anything about Jesus you could see that he was a man of compassion and mercy. You tell me of another prophet that would humble himself after being mocked at, cursed at, spat upon, tortured, and beg his Father to forgive them for what they were doing. How could nobody not love a person for that kind of sacrifice????? I cannot recall any other God or goddess being willing to do that. It is not Buddha, nor Mohamed nor Krishna but Jesus, plus He gave you a free will and He will not drag you to heaven kicking and screaming it has to be you willingly.

Because he made the rules, he has given you a set amount of days to accept his words, and if you choose to reject (as it sounds like you have heard, that He sent His son Jesus Christ to help you conqueror sin in your life (Romans is good for that))
Then He is a Holy God and He has drawn a line in the sand and said come to me all you are weary and heavy ladened I will give you rest... you choose to reject that and he is supposed to let you in???? I asked this question and got very little response but it went like this...
What in this world is so easy that would make you think that eternity would be a free pass.... It's not like regular people get invited en-masse to celebrities houses... It's not like people who you don't like invite you around even if they are better off than you...
No He couldn't God designed us for eternity because he is eternal...
God does make all the rules - so follow them
God is Love - if you reject that love
God can do anything - but He is not our coca-cola machine

God's hands are washed clean on this matter.... if a person goes to hell, they chose the ticket there by their own choice. Jesus went through the difficult part. He was tortured whipped to such an extent that His flesh was hanging off of His bones before they nailed His feet and hands to a cross to die for you and me. Scripture says that He "was unrecognizable as a man." No, we got the easy part of the deal.

God does not choose people to be tortured in hell for all eternity, you choose......
Here is how it works. God gave his only son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus paid the punishment that was due to us as a result of our sins. As a result, any of us can choose to go to heaven if we want to by accepting Jesus.
God gave us free will, and does not force us to love him. God is love, and if we reject God, then by our own choice we are seperated from God, and thus love. This is the true hell, seperation from love for all eternity.....by your own choice.
