i called her gummi and she thinks its becuz i thik shes fat
but its becuz gummi bears are my favorite candy and shes like sweet n stuff whatever

[awww] gummi is the cuuuuutest nickname! hehe i love gummi bears, my fav candy! i thought that would've been a good idea to associate the name with something she really likes or that's her favorite. But uh ohh...seems like she took it the wrong way. But, make up something unique that you both can relate to. Common nicknames can get old lol. But, try thinking of something else that's her fav. but possibly doesn't make her think it's b/c she's "fat" hehe. Good luck =)

How about going a little old-fashioned and calling her "my lady" or "my sweet." At least it sounds a tiny bit more respectful than a "cute little pet name" and it sort of tells her how highly you think of her.
Don't get carried away with the nicknames. If it really is love, then respect and honesty is much more important. Using nicknames may unintentionally impose expectations or cause misunderstandings like the situation you described in your question.

i personally would only give her a nickname if u have been goin out for a while now bcuz then she will think that u dont know her name or somethin!! but i would say maybe pumpkin or baby or sexy or somethin like that somethin that reminds u of her!!
