Shampoo is shampoo, is shampoo, what do I mean by that, well all shampoos are made of the same basic ingredients. They each have three different types of detergents/cleansers to do certain things for and in the hair. One cleansing agent is suppose to remove the oils from hair, and if you have natural dry hair, shampooing too much can actually cause your hair to dry out even more so..There is a trick to prevent that but that is another question.. Okay the second cleansing agent is to remove pollutants from your hair, IE smoke, air pollutions and just bad odors in general...The third cleanser is suppose to remove all dirt and debris from the hair, like scalp flakes that your can't see and even the ones your can see.. Then there are two other very mild cleanings agents that act as catalyst to make the other three work to their optimum level...Then the shampoo company adds fragrances and color for smell and eye appeal, oh of course there are also fillers, which is nothing more than to increase the volume of the shampoo meaning how much is in the bottle..Shampoo if it is within the range of pH of the hair which is 4.5 - 5.5 it doesn't matter which one you use, It is the conditioner and the fact that your rinse your hair well that is important. Hope I helped you understand where the shampoo industry and how they work, and how to chose a good shampoo

Years ago, the girl who cuts my hair (like in 1991) told me that the best shampoo out there is a cheapie brand most people don't even notice in the shampoo aisle: Prell. She told me that the best thing about Prell is that it removes the build-up that other shampoos tend to leave behind. Imagine my suprise only a few years ago, when Prell starting hitting the shelves again with a new ad campaign promoting it's build-up removing properties! I use it, and love the smell and my hair feels really clean and not like there is something weighing it down.

I would recommend any professional product such as Biolage, Redken, or Paul Mitchell. Being a professional Hair Designer I know these products are PH Balanced and are GOOD for the hair. Most of your over the counter products have the same PH Level as Tide and Ajax which are very very High, and all they will do is strip everything healthy out of your hair after a period of time. Trust me PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS ARE BEST , they may cost more but you will be better off for it as you will always have healthy hair.
And PRELL is one of the worst, you can actually take the PRELL and put it in a sink full of the greasiest dishes and pots that you can find and watch the grease bubble up. Save the PRELL for your dishes sweetie.

biolage and redken all day sweetie:

Redken Laboratories, founded in 1960, is a company built from the inspiration of a dynamic, entrepreneurial American actress named Paula Kent. During the '70s and '80s, the company was a leader in product technology in the US and abroad. In 1993, L'Oreal purchased Redken and now its headquarters are on 5th Avenue NYC. Today, Redken is a global leader in professional haircare products and services. The company is energized with talented people, strong partnerships with the best hairdressers, and superior Research and Development.
