Yo, I am not going to commit suicide! I have had a good friend try, and a adult friend commit suicide. I would NEVER even think about commiting suicide after seeing what it does to familys and friends... I was JUST WONDERING because of the people I knew... Thanks for all the answers!

This is really shaky ground because people would tell you 1 Cor 3:16 (The body being the temple of the Holy spirit and to not harm it v 17.) I don't know exactly what God decides I would suppose it depends on your heart with him and how your heart was when you did.... (1 Sam 16:17b)

It is up to God and we should rest in Him.

However we should cling to God.

It depends on the heart, and a failed attempt I don't think would be an unforgivable sin... because you can still 1John 1:9 Confess your sins for He is faithful and just to cleanse you from all unrighteousness...

I hope your friend is now receiving help from the appropriate places ie. counselling....

(It's a sin however not unforgivable because Jesus died for our sins and Romans 10:9-10 is the way to be saved.)

No, it is not any longer an unforgivable sin. there is not any the place in the Scriptures that asserts this. the only point out of an unforgivable sin is in Luke 12:10 "and every person who shall say a be conscious against the Son of guy, it's going to be forgiven Him; yet those blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, that's actually no longer forgiven." Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing the miracles of Christ to devil, referencing back to Luke 11:14 & 15. in basic terms the sovereign God can make certain your day of departure, you're able to do no longer something to hasten it. he's totally able to combating you if He desires. Christ died for the sins of His human beings, the Church, in any different case, you get into universalism, and that isn't biblical.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Those who are adamant that a person who takes his life is committing a mortal sin, and will go to hell, are basing their belief on church doctrine rather than on the Bible. Scripture is silent on the subject. There are no verses that say "He who takes his own life shall be damned." According to Scripture, only one sin does not have forgiveness, and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (see Mark 3:29 footnote). That means there is forgiveness for every other sin.

Some quote 1 Corinthians 3:17, which says that God will destroy someone who "defiles" the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet, there is disagreement about what it means to defile the temple. Does this include suicide? Does it include illicit drug abuse (slow suicide), prescription drug abuse, cigarettes (deliberately breathing in poisons that will eventually kill), tattoos, over-eating (digging a grave with your spoon), or alcohol abuse?

God forbid that we add to the pain of someone who has lost a loved one through the tragedy of suicide, by making a judgment about their eternal destiny. God is the ultimate Judge, and we should therefore leave the issue in His hands. It would be wise to follow the biblical example and not come to any verdict in the case of suicide.

Nothing is unforgivable. G-d is like a parent. He is always there for you. He reprimands you, and loves you at the same time. He takes into consideration all of your emotions, and state of mind. Your friend committed suicide, how terrible for the people he left behind. My condolences.

Suicide is not an unforgivable sin, if you fail, because it is a sin, but when you fail, you can go to God and ask Him to forgive you of your sin. He said if you repent, He will forgive you all your sins. If you succeed in killing your self, you can't ask for forgiveness, and so you can't be forgiven for your sin.
To Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, is an unforgivable sin. Be very careful how you speak of the Spirit.

No Suicide is not an unforgivable sin. it is not a sin at all. but that doesn't mean that the person who committedd suicide will get out of life that easy. for I believe that if you committe suicide , then you only have to come back again and redo that same life lesson all over again. and I think sometimes the lessons in life we are here to learn are tough enough the first time around. wouldn't want to have to do it all over again. but that's my opinion. as far as the sin part goes. God is a Loving God not one that we should fear. he is forgiving and only wants us to find him and the ultimate love he has to offer.

When it happened in our community the priest (Orthodox, not Caholic) explained that each case is judged individually. If a person is mentally ill, under treatment and commits suicide, then it is considered an illness. This judgement was for the sake of burial, the final judgement is not ours.

I have no references, but I can share my thoughts on the matter. =)

If you kill somebody, you cannot easily make right with the one you killed. You can, however, try to make right with the victim's family and friends. And thus, you can at least try to earn their forgiveness.

If you kill yourself, you cannot make amends with anyone that you hurt through that action (and indeed there would be many), since you'll be dead.

With all due respect to your friend (and I don't know their circumstances AT ALL), I feel suicide is perhaps one of the most dreadful of sins.

But I also feel that those who are sick are also not entirely responsible for all they do.

I wish you the best!!!!!

well in the bible it states that if you commit suicide then you will be sentanced to pergatory (not hell) which is like an inbetween heaven and hell... rent the movie what dreams may come with robin williams in it you might like it. but no if you commit suicide you will never be allowed into heaven... thats what i was tought... but you can always pray for got to forgive your friend of his or her sins. it is forgivable if you try but fail as long as you don't continuously try to do it... you have to show god that you truley regret doing it... hope this helps sorry about your friend iv'e had many of my friends do the same in high school (always try to remember the good in life the bad stuff always fades away!)

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Unfortunatly yes it is true but some try to re-interpret it as more research is done of the mental part of suicide and so some say it is not as the mind took over the body. God bless!
