I think so. Some feel nothing different at the time, while others experience some physical things. It is a spiritual experience though and may not manifest in any particular way except you gain a spiritual awareness that will guide you internally from that day on. You begin to know God on another level, you begin to understand Him through the Holy Spirit which now indwells your body. The Holy Spirit reveals things to you that you could never understand without Him. Suddenly you are open to a whole different world that operates simultaneously with the physical world. Because of the Holy Spirit's influence on you, you begin to change as a person. Your desires become different and your motives also. You begin to be transformed into the image of Christ and begin to take on His characteristics. It is an ongoing process that takes a lifetime and will never be completed in this life, but in the next. You do know you received the Spirit of God. It may take some time to understand what has happened, but you do know something has changed. Some people know right away that it is the Spirit and some don't. All in all a peace comes over you and a joy that cannot be taken away. It's deep within and sustains you through the bad times. You have an assurance you never had before. And you have no fear of death. There's probably some more things I could mention but I'm not thinking of them right now, so I guess that's all I'll say. I pray you experience the indwelling Holy Spirit yourself....all you need do is trust Jesus as your personal Savior. God bless you.

Some people have very emotional experiences and some do not. In the book of Acts we see that the early believers did see the baptism in the Holy Spirit as distinct and subsequent to the new birth. The Acts 2 experience comes after the John 20 experience. Acts 8:4-25 clearly shows that this Baptism is not automatically received at the very beginning since we are told saved and baptized believers still had to have the apostles pray for them to receive the Spirit. In this passage we are also given a hint that there was some kind of evidence that satisfied everyone that the believers had received this Spirit baptism (an empowering for service [Lk 24:49] as opposed to the new life given by the Spirit at the new birth). The early Christians apparently knew when someone did not have the Spirit and when someone did. This must have been an objective rather than subjective test. When the Spirit was poured out at Cornelius house the brothers who went there knew the new believers had been baptized with the Spirit "FOR they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God" (Acts 4:26). A lot more could be said about this but it seems clear that the early Christians saw the supernatural gift of tongues as evidence that the Holy Spirit had been given. Those who caricature all such experiences as having dramatic outward displays are ignorant. Christians who criticize speaking in tongues are insulting the early Christians who spoke in tongues. In short, your experience may or may not be emotional and you can be certain you have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit when the Spirit enables you to speak in tongues.

For some, it is very powerful. For others it is quite quiet. The only explanation is, what do you feel in your heart. Just because you might not of had an earth shaking experience, doesn't mean the Holy Spirit isn't with you. If you have allowed Jesus into your heart, the Helper is already with you.
For me, it changed my life drastically. Overnight I quit drinking, swearing ect.....I was preaching to all my friends. Now my wife, when she accepted Jesus, didn't have the same experience as me. It was a quiet one. But she knows, and feels it in her heart. She has a good heart for God.
So not everyone will have the same experience.

Well, some Christians think that receiving the Holy Spirit means having convulsions on the floor and "Speaking in Tongues" that sound a lot like the gibberish version of their Mother Tongue.
I was Confirmed in the Catholic faith and, sadly, can say that I felt, well, nothing. Then again I wasn't into it, but I thought that if the spirit was there it would fill me when invoked.

When it happens to me, it's usually at a time that I allow God's compassion to work through me, when you do the right thing at the right time. The holy spirit enters into me, I feel it in my chest-soul.... it's a happy warm feeling kinda moving around on the inner soul-heart. You go out of your way to do as God would, The holy spirit was in me all day one Sunday, as God and I went to church and greeted everyone at the door. I was a new visitor at the time:)

All believers are given the Holy Spirit when they first believe. Some believe in a second "anointing", but this is debatable, and has led many down roads of frustration.
Just trust Jesus that He kept His promise and gave you the Holy Spirit when you believed that He died for your sins and rose again.

You start living life from the perspective of an eternal soul instead of from the perspective or your mortal ego.
