Capitalist philosophy embraces open immigration because it expands markets and prevents shortfalls in labor supply which breed black markets in labor (illegal immigration).

Is there any logical reason to oppose open immigration unless you are anti-capitalist (communist) or just don't like foreigners (racist)?

Sorry for baiting the question.

Government and business ignores or encourages illegal immigration because our current immigration system does not supply enough legal immigrants to fulfill our economy's needs.

I am trying to elicit responses, especially from conservatives, as to why people oppose increased immigration, besides not liking foreigners.

You forgot Isolationist. This group wishes to keep outsiders out and let the rest of the world deal with their own problems. Prior to WWII this was the general attitude of the US public.

The reason to screen out the people who will cause problems or otherwise degrade the general community is?... Um I think that answered itself :P

Communist (actually I think you mean Marxist Socialism) have no problem with immigrants who will accept the Party Leadership. It cuts down on the number of people not under their control :)

Genuine Communists (This system holds all possessions in common and treats all members equally) such as the Mennonite religious communities do not accept outsiders due to the need to totally reeducate people who are not used to owning nothing, using only what they need and working to provide for the needs of the community.

Capitalism is immigration neutral. They couldn't care less whether the market is domestic or international as long as they can make a profit. In fact they would tend to be isolationist, since the incomers would cut into their revenue by competing in the domestic market :)

Socialists (Government funded charity) would oppose immigration as the immigrants would be availing themselves of the benefits of the social programs.

Different economic models will have different reactions to immigration.

Some like the modified Capitalist/Socialist system of US benefit from immigration if the applicants are filtered to bias the immigration towards productive citizens.

Others like Mennonite communities are unable to absorb immigrants smoothly and so immigration for these causes more trouble than the benefit is worth.

As for those who oppose open immigration. You will find among their ranks Racists, Communists, Capitalists, Socialists, and just about every category you can label. Anarchists for instance would want to exclude anyone in favor of an organized government & Totalitarians would want to exclude anyone in favor of anarchy :D

No matter the system, immigration needs to be filtered to admit the people who will benefit the group they are applying to join. Fully open immigration will destroy the society regardless of the social system.

I took a course in college which discussed divergence of cultures. During her lectures the Professor made a candid comment, "those that use the race card when other cogent means of communications are available to them not only show their own racism but a lack of intelligence."
{Becuase I know how you think I came back to add that this Professor is African American/Black/American/and of course a woman-any questions?}
You are either highly misinformed or just ignorant to think Capitalism has as it's central point open immigration. Further, an uncontrolled immigration policy has devastating effects on economical structures when unemployment radically increases. Which is the result without a controlled immigration policy.
What breeds black markets are individuals that cannot function within the normal social and orderly motives of a community.

...or just don't like foreigners (racist)?
Did you think this up yourself? LMAO

Keep working it, you are almost a master of the ill fated and laughable science of circular logic.

I oppose "open" immigration, though I would consider myself neither racist nor communist... What is the point in allowing immigrants who possess no job skills, don't speak the language, and lack the financial resources to become contributing members of the society they hope to join? (And those who DO possess these qualities... why aren't they working to make their OWN country something to be proud of???)
I do however have problems with illegal immigrants, no matter where they are from. These people have proven they don't deserve citizenship in this country. We don't need more people with a chronic disdain for our laws... We seem to be doing just fine creating the home grown variety!
Ideally, I'd like the illegals returned to their own countries, and a shorter wait for the legals.

Our country can't handle an open immigration policy. We have Americans that are out of work because of the illegal aliens!

Illegal immigration has nothing to do with race - it's about the law. Those that are opposed to open immigration are not racist. Mexican is not a race, English is not a race, etc....

I'm all for capitalism. However, growth must be slow enough for the economy to catch up.

I'm not anti-capitalist, and I'm surely not a racist. I just don't feel that the U.S. Citizens who pay taxes should have to foot the bill to cover social programs and increased law enforcement.
I feel that we could use those funds for a better cause. I would like to see Mexico do a better job of educating their own citizens, Creating a stronger economy, investing in their own infrastructure and making Mexico a great nation to live. Before too long we might just be jumping their border....If you want to point fingers at someone, why don't you look at the root cause of the mass departure from Mexico instead of blaming me for wanting the money I pay in to go to "Legal U.S. citizens" who are in need of these social benefits.

Yes, there are many. Our economic system is not pure capitalism. In fact, there are MANY problems with a purely capitalistic system. Illegal immigration is much more complex. Yes, some people are xenophic and/or racist, but I don't believe that is the majority. And the people that cry racism at everything (someone here will probably make a charge of racism), don't solve anything. In fact, they often make things worse by changing the debate from what the real problem is. There isn't just one simple answer as your question implies.

ok, so if Congress and the President exchange the regulation day after today removing all obstacles to immigration, you may help it, suitable? Are you specific your in basic terms project with unlawful immigration is that that's a criminal offense? using fact the government might desire to very incredibly exchange the regulation. you may might desire to arise with a various argument, then. Being anti-immigration or anti-unlawful immigration isn't intrinsically racist. of direction no longer. it somewhat is inflammatory and stupid. you ought to not take that grievance heavily. in spite of the undeniable fact that, i think of a few human beings use the "regulation" as a guise to mask their authentic emotions on the project. In some circumstances, i be conscious of racism performs a factor. If no longer racism, then xenophobia and nativism. neither is a robust trait for a man or woman to have. without understanding your authentic motives, i could no longer possibly say why you're so adversarial to unlawful immigration. i be conscious of that the regulation is irrelevant using fact the regulation isn't a static tension. The regulation might desire to mirror what's suitable and incorrect. So, once you demonstrate why you think of the regulation is nice, somewhat than resorting to helping the regulation for the regulation's sake, then i'm going to be waiting to render a determination. As for me, I disagree with the guidelines on the books. I disagree with a lot of rules on the books. And for those rules that I do like, i do no longer attempt to justify their life by utilising asserting that they exist. it somewhat is around reasoning.

I do feel that most people who "hate" illegals actually have something against Hispanics or other particular groups. And I say "Hispanics" because there are more of them and most or half of the illegals are Mexican, and people only target illegals, negatively, because more of them are Hispanic, and then they focus their hate on all Hispanics (especially Mexicans) even if they were American. And then it does come down to a race issue. And then most of these anti-illegals CRY that they've been called a racist because the don't want illegals or they want the "laws enforced" when in fact they've been called a racist for the real reason people call others racist.

Just because a person is against illegal immigration does not make them a racist or a communist. This board is about illegal immigration not immigration.

We cannot just say that those who oppose open immigration are communists or racists. Any country has it's own laws and statutes on immigration. So does the US. There are parameters in accepting or rejecting immigration and it is based on sound tenets.
