Hi! I just got married last month, and we went to dollar tree and got some glass globes (not hurricanes, but the ones with the bottoms) some ideas we had were-
floating a single lit candle in water
you can also put one drop of food coloring in the water in your wedding colors to make the water glow a bit when the candles are lit)
you can sink a certain type of flower (hydrangea is BEAUTIFUL when it is sunk and you can use simple fishing weights to sink them)
you can buy big bags of wedding confetti at a party store or online, we spread some around our tables to give them a more festive look, and people also threw it when we left.
a good website to look into is oriental trading company. they have ALL Sorts of favors and other ideas on their site! Congrats to you!!

Need more information like where, colors, budget, for how many tables, is there a theme?
Floating candles with colored water or petals is a pretty standard issue wedding centerpiece that goes with just about anything.
It's also a big thing right now to get the tall clear vases and submerge a single flower or two under water then put a floating candle on top.

A beautiful centerpiece would decorative dishes about half full of water (or colored water) with floating candles. I've seen this done in a few wedding receptions. As a matter of fact, you can find things like this at a dollar store, Or Oriental Trading company. Very inexpensive, yet elegant.

Here are some sites that may give you some ideas, then I suggest going to your local craft store and seeing how much the materials would cost to make it.
It's difficult to give you ideas when we don't know your colors, theme or style, but I hope these help.
Good luck!

Floating candles in a bowl of water are both cheap and elegant.
I'm also considering having the cupcakes that we are going to serve our guests (instead of cake) stacked up nicely as a centrepiece. Killing two birds with one stone will save you money =)
