My boston terrier is 5 years old and for the last 4 or 5 months she's had little spells of heavy panting and shaking. she doesnt lose consciousness, is obviously still "with us", no foaming at the mouth, urination, def, etc... so why is she doing this? It doesn't quite match up to epilepsy...

My brother's dog started doing the same thing. Take your dog to the vet if he has another episode. With my brother's dog it was his heart so he was given meds that he will have to take for the rest of his life. Had they not taken him to the vet, he would not be around today. If you hold your dog when this is happening, do you feel his heart beating rapidly? Does he then get really tired? These where things in addition to the symptoms you described that my brother's dog was having. Good luck and best of health to your little pooch!

My little dog is about 12 yrs. old. She started panting and sometimes shaking approx. 4 mos. ago. The vet. said it could be ageing and/or mild pain. She was given a thorough check-up and has no physical problems. So I watch her and love her and hope for the best.

Diabetics can also have seizures as well when their blood sugar is at an extreme low.
What you are describing does not sound like epilepsy. I myself am epileptic. Grand Mal seizures are not what you are quite describing.
