For all ye Protestants out there, I was wondering what you think of the following:

Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Lourdes
Our Lady of Fatima

If you are not familiar with them, Wikipedia gives a good non-bias story. With these three amazing stories, how can you continue to doubt the importance of the Blessed Virgin Mary?

Still not convinced? Try:
Luke 1:28-30
Luke 1:41-44
Luke 1:48
Rev. 12:1-6

If Jesus is our brother than Mary is our mother.
Jesus is the One Mediator,Priest,Redeemer and Savior and Mary, like all disciples of Jesus, leads us closer to Him

Mary isn't God in the flesh.
Mary didn't die for my sins.
Mary didn't rise again the third day!

God blessed Mary above all women for she was the virgin who was chosen but she was not sinless and she died like anybody else.

Jesus is my only Savior and he is Mary's Savior too.

They tried to glorify Mary when Christ walked the earth also But notice what Jesus said in Luke 11:27, 28. Go read it for yourself.

Go read it... That is if it ok for a non Protestant (Catholic) to read the Bible. Is it still not allowed?? I was Catholic before and we never read the Bible. A question was once asked of a priest and he said "oh thats scripture...I dont know about scripture but we have a couple who do read scripture" A priest said this!?!

Once I found out what the Bible actually says about many things I could no loonger continue to go against the Word of God in favor of "long standing tradition".

As a Protestant, I see the way the Bible speaks of Mary, and choose not to OVER-emphasize her as the Catholic church does. Many Catholic traditions concerning Mary have very very little, or no, Biblical foundation.

As for your verses, Rev. 12 is a highly glamorized account of Jesus' birth and early life. The dragon represents how Satan, through Herod, attempted to kill Christ at birth. Then the Lord brought Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus into the "desert" or Egypt as it were for about 4 years (1260 days).

Luke 1:28-48
Please don't take these individual verses out to try and pick Mary out as a special character worthy of over high emphasis. The key to this passage is talking about the throne that Christ is to take over, it says that Mary found favor in the sight of the Lord, but truly it could have been any obedient Hebrew woman. That was why Mary found favor, just like Abraham found favor, by being obedient to God, not because they are anything special in and of themselves.

"how can you continue to doubt the importance of the Blessed Virgin Mary?"

Who said that Protestants don't consider the Virgin Mary to be important? What Protestants do disagree with are the ideas that Mary never comitted a sin and that she didn't have any children after she had Jesus and that people should pray to departed saints instead of directly to God in Jesus' name.

The blessed Virgin praised God her Savior. Someone who has never sinned doesn't need a savior.

Luke 1:46 And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;

Matthew 1:24-25 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25 but knew her not UNTIL she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

After the birth of Jesus Joseph had relations with his wife. God didn't command Mary to refrain from the normal marital duties of a wife to her husband.

No where in the Bible do you find someone praying to a person who has died or asking them to intercede with God on their behalf. Instead you see that Jesus is the one who is the mediator between God and man.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

You people all need to understand what the Bible is. It is the canon of the church. That means, that church officials (with divine inspiration) read through all available works and included those that support the church's position and excluded those that do not.

Subsequent to the first Bible, many religions have edited the original Bible even further. Again, each new Bible reflecting the canon of the religion doing the editing or interpreting.

The first Bible was compiled about five hundred years after the death of Christ. The first revision was Martin Luther's Bible which is the Lutheran Church's canon was compiled around 1520.

There are other versions all of them compiled many years later. The Book of Mormon was written in the 1800's that is the canon of the Church of Later Day Saints.

The point is that you are all correct. Your beliefs are in line with the teachings of your particular religion based on the canon of that religion.

It is silly to argue about it. If Catholics believed everything Baptists believe they would be Baptists. If Baptists believed everything Methodists believe they would be Methodists.

You should not argue your differences. If you truly believe in the teaching of Jesus Christ, you would be focusing on those things you agree about. We are all God's children.

In the protestant church the Bible is the authrity for what is truth. Miracles and psychic experiences really don't prove a thing because they can cme from a number of sources, including Satan, angels, psychic experiences, occultish experiences and so on. So our thnking on it is that it really proves nothing since almost every religion in the world can produce supernatural phenomina.

Sorry I did not look up your references, you should take a second and cut and paste your verses into your question.

Mary, was a vessel God used, just like God uses Billy Graham, and David Livingston, Corrie Ten Boom, Hudson Taylor... God uses us, and that doesn't make us anymore important than anyone else...

Yes, Mary should have some esteem, however it doesn't mean that we pray through her, when Jesus taught us How to Pray he did not say in the name of my mother mary... He said Our Father who art in Heaven Hallowed be thy name.....

God could have used anyone...

Try the verse where Jesus says "Who is my mother?" Or the verse where Mary says "Whatever He says, do it". Or the lack of Mary being mentioned ever again in the rest of the Bible after just a couple chapters early in the Gospels.

Mary has nothing to do at all for us to be saved, she is not involved in any way whatsoever, and I don't give her any regard at all.

I don't see any person that has responded to this make reference to the beautiful tales of Our Blessed Mother. Why? Because Protestant ignorance prohibits such a thing. Do any of you know the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the beautiful miracles she performed to Juan Diego? Probably not, because if you did, you wouldn't slander her most holy name!

i don't know those ladies....
i'm sure glad that Mary was the mother of Jesus...but Jesus calls me blessed too.

as for the verses....i am not putting down the life that she lead. she carried my Savior in her womb and she is blessed. i am blessed by my Holy Father in heaven who sent His son to die for the many sins I commit on a daily basis. I will not hold Mary up...I will remember her at Christmas only.
I'm sorry.
