Jeez, nobody is going to ask me what I am drinking or presure me into having a drink. These people are 22 and up. I just thought it was rude like when you bring something to dinner and don't eat what the host cooked. Anyway, thanks for the answers.

NO this is not rude at all. In most cases (especially if it's a party of 22 year olds) they won't care. Look at it as, when you are invited over to someones house, it is customary to bring a bottle of wine for the host. Go have fun, and announce you will be the designated driver:)

I usually take a bottle of water or ice tea everywhere I go.
I don't think it would be rude, I take my own drinks to my in-laws even though they have soda, I don't like the kind they get, so I have my water.
So if it is an alcohol party, I would just take my drink along.
Sometimes you could ask if they are having mixed drinks and then you could just have some of their soda with out alcohol in it, just make sure you watch them fix it.

no, it is not rude at all, that way you don't embarrass the hosts, if they forgot to stock your beverage of choice. i don't drink alcohol either, but when i invite my friends for dinner, i provide wine or beer for them. i would'nt think it rude, if they brought their own, when i'm invited they usually have bottled water, lemonade, or sodas on hand for me.

good question . When i go to party's like that i take lotz of gum so i don't get thirsty and if they ask me if i want a derink i say ate before coming
