An Elk's lodge, hasn't been updated since it was built in like the 60's. Colors? Pink (for the bride) and baby blue (for the groom.) Pink and blue balloons galore, tulle. For the centerpieces, rented glass hurricanes, fish bowls, etc. that had been used, so had chunks of wax and were discolored by smoke from candles. Inside the glass was colored fish gravel and candles. Behind the cake was a rented piece of lattice work.
The bathroom looked right out of Austen Powers. I can't really describe it: orange and white, with a circle theme. There were 60's style stools. A circle pattern on the walls.
In the lobby there was a lounge and the chairs were covered in cow hide.

I am a professional wedding photographer but I actually saw this at a wedding in which I was a guest. The groom had insisted on black being the primary color (just like it was for his first wedding.... hum...) The groom picked out everything.
Let me preface that I've been to black and white weddings and they were beautiful and tasteful. NOT this one. The bride's maids all wore solid black, They wore little black hats with black tulle AND worst of all they all carried black flowers. It was awful! What made it worse is that the cake was so bad guests were spitting it out openly! By the mouthfull.
This wedding was nearly 20 years ago; in the 80's and people at our church still talk about it. Pretty bad.

I love balloons, not balloon arches or floating hearts, but done well they can look funky rather than tacky. I reckon the worst decoration I have seen was at a reception which was held in a school gym, they still had the basket ball hoops up and had covered them with a kind of fake ivy type garland to try and hide them. For the money they paid to rent the hall they should have insisted those hoops were removed.

It was a pew bow made from white carnations and a bright teal blue bow. The actual bow was much too small (size of a bow tie) but the ribbons streaming from it were huge and dragged on the floor. There were weird greens sprouting from it. I remember thinking that if they had just put up nothing it would have been better. It was so distracting that when the bride walked by me I was too busy staring at the weird bow across the aisle from me to pay much attention to her. I wanted to get up out of my seat and take them all down.

I planned a wedding once for a client.... she also asked me to oversee her decorations. Her wedding color was burgundy but unfortunately she paired it with gold/yellow accents. (Yes, like the colors of Florida State University.) At her reception she had both colors of table clothes alternating on the tables .... one table burgundy, one table bright yellow/gold. Then she had 3 different styles of centerpieces but all of them had these fake flowers she found at the dollar store that were burgundy and gold. Her reception was huge (500 people) .... so the hall was this huge mass of horrible color.
I tried to talk her out of the color scheme, I really did. But some people just don't listen. LOL!

Balloons! I haaate balloons!! They belong at a 5-year-old's birthday party, not a wedding. My best friend had balloons decorating her wedding reception and of course I had to say I loved it... but I was cringing! I just think they look tacky.
Other than that, honestly I haven't seen anything ugly. Honestly, I've liked everything I've seen decoration-wise at weddings since that one. Well, I did go to one wedding that was held in an elementary school gymnasium with zero decorations, and that was ugly... but does lack of decoration in a gym count?? Aside from that, everything has been nice! (Even if it's not something I would choose myself.)

I went to a wedding where the centre pieces were goldfish in a tall vase. It was decorated nicely & looked quite nice except that we had a floater by the end of the night!!! Hope it wasn't symbolic of their future together!!!

THE BRIDE!!!! haha no I haven't been to many weddings but all the ones I have been to were beautiful. i think we need to understand that its the couples choice and they have picked what they like so we should respect that.
PS. I'm not being pc and I know there arew some ugly weddings out there I just haven't been to any so I cant judge.

I watch that show platinum weddings and saw a centerpiece that was like tree branches, but instead of being pretty and tranquil, like the outdoors, it really reminded me of scary haunted forests. Not a good look, and they cost like $1500 each or something ridiculous!

we went to a co workers wedding and they had dark purple and black as their colors, and it was a spring wedding and the whole reception hall was dark purple and black it almost resembled gothic colors. so i was not impressed and the bride wore a dark purple gown and the groom had black of everything . it was shocking and ugly to me. considering that when she works she wears spring like colors that are airy and fresh, and new. so this wedding just shocked us all ...
