We can look at other nations and see that their history's of warfare pale in comparison to our own. Most of the other industrial nations of the world have been involved in a war since World War Two. However, the US, through-out its history, has had a "war" about every fifteen years (I use the term "war" here loosely since we have not again declared war since December 8, 1941).

Could the answer lie in the fact that, currently, the US spends more on defense than the following ten nations COMBINED. Thereby, the US feels it must get some "bang" for its buck? Or that the Military Industial Complex must give itself reason for being? Hmm...

Years ago, President and former General Eisenhower warned the US to beware of the "military-industrial" complex.Since then, of course, we have capitulated to it. Or at least our leaders and the corporate fat cats have.Money, which is power, runs the world, and the powerful of the world make the rules.Of course its not only the US that has been guilty of fomenting wars; take a look at other countries down through the ages.Still, I believe that we are currently at the mercy of some long time plans made by White House jackals and their friends. Look at the PNAC papers and the oil industry to see what our real intentions for the middle east are Naturally, the Muslims hate us, because we are destroying their homes and families. If they were here we would do the same In the end, I predict, there will be nothing left to fight over.

Do you realize that the only reason you are able to be so arrogant to ask this question is because of men like my groandfather, uncles, father and myself and women like my great grandmother made and still make sacrifces to protect the ideals thgat our country was founded on. Our military does not serve to protect any one person but to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and to bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

You need to pull your head out of you a-s-s and go sign up to get a true understanding of the organization that you are badmouthing, but then again I would not want my country disgraced by having such a p***y in the military. Show some respect.

Perhaps to some it would appear that we are indeed a war crazy group but, in truth, we, the people, hate war! We do not like to send our youth to die in other nations for causes that do not better our welfare & only cost us in money as well as lives lost. Please, remember that we not only fight in wars, we also help other nations in many other ways; food, water, medicine, medical teams, education & on it goes, the list is long! The fighting we have done has not profited this country, we have not fought for gain, mostly to help others. We are growing weary of fighting for others, but yet we do it because someone should help others & the world waits for us to do it & then denounces us for lending a hand!

"We can look at other nations and see that their history's of warfare pale in comparison to our own. "

This statement is absolutely FALSE. Look at the genocides committed by Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, China, and regimes such as the Khmer Rouge.

The reality is that the United States is the most benevolent superpower EVER. No nation or empire has ever had so much power and used it with so much restraint.

really? have you ever heard of France? what about the UK? ever hear of the Falklands,or french north Africa? the British and french have fought more wars between them than we have fought. they even had one that was called the hundred years war, which was actually last 116 years.
how many present day countries were at one time conquered by either Britain, France,Germany,Italy,Spain, etc.
you have no clue what you are even talking about, the history of war goes back further than the United States are old. you need to expand your concept of history, and learn about what you are talking about before you speak.

Much of our military budget is devoted to protecting those so-called pacifist nations. France and Germany expect us to protect them from invasion, so they don't need a huge military budget.
