Air force guys have it worse than the army!?
Let me tell you something buddy; I was deployed to Kuwait/Iraq twice (Army 5 years active), for a year each time, and that statement is total B.S. Most AF personnel do 3-6 month tours, and most of them spend the whole time on base (FOBits) They never left the wire! And oh btw, wherever their's an airbase in Iraq you'll find the best living conditions. I did convoy escort for almost a year, and almost got blown up by IED's 2 times, not to mention hundreds of close calls and 2 deaths in out company, one was a good friend of mine.
And to answer your question; it was tough, but not hell. Stressful, but I wouldn't prefer tours of Vietnam or WWII, no thanks. Mostly it was hot, HOT.

P.S. We loved what the air force did for us and I respect anyone in the military that Deploys and doesn't try to get out of it.

According to one of my best friends -- who is currently on his second tour there -- it's bad.
He refers to it as being stressful and draining -- "hell" is what his wife says he really means (but cannot say aloud).
It's like trying to describe what it feels like to burn alive -- or to give birth without anesthesia. No words can do the experience justice.

All the words in the world mean nothing if you haven't been there and done that. Same as when I went to Nam.
