Groin muscles take a long time to heal and can be very aggravating. Depending on what you did either the other leg, when kicking can aggravate it, or kicking with the leg on the side the strain may be on may aggravate it also. Alternate ice and heat on it for the next 24 hours or so if you just did this the past 24 hours. If you hurt it longer ago then you can try the ice and heat but it may not be as effective. Injuries like that you usually only have about 24 hours to do something with in order for it to be effective. Ice will cut down on the inflamation and pain and heat will promote good blood circulation and healing.

See if you can still do your road work and bag work without kicking and pulling it. Also round house kicks and especially side kicks and hook kicks should be avoided as they will probably aggravate it. Do instead front kicks if you can without it pulling and you may not be to bad off come fight time and it may not be as much of a factor. Also the higher you are kicking will also put more stress on it so I would keep all my kicks low to the belt and stomach when training now until fight time. Also make sure to gently massage the area and take extra care when stretching and do some cool down stretching also and massage after your workouts.

You may be able to wrap your leg with a six inch wide ace bandage the night of the fight for extra support. I would not wrap it for workouts per say since this can cause a build up of scar tissue and hamper your flexibility if it is more than just a strain.

I tore mine pretty bad watersking one summer when I was chasing points on the national circuit. I got ice and heat on it right away as soon as it happened and that made a huge difference. I also restricted my training for about two weeks and kept massaging it and working with it and started competing but could only throw front kicks for several months and would wrap it for tournaments for most of the remainder of that year. It is fine now and I have no problems. Good luck.

i've got a fight coming up on the 17th. what you should do depends on what is hurt, how you hurt it, and how bad it is. if it's just a strained groing, it should be ok in a week. i just would try to take it easy on leg excersises. do what you can with out straining it to badly. i would get some muscle cream to help relax it as well. you should be ready in 10 days if you just take it easy. i know that when i've had strains, not serious one, the pain lasted less than a week. when the pain goes away, keep the conditioning light. don't try to make up for lost time or you'll really screw yourself over. anyways, i know my advice is kinda jumbled up right now, but that's the way i would handle it. good luck in you up coming fight.

Personally I used to just take pain killers - There just isnt a better way. All the other suggestions simply don't work for real constant pain.
