Many cultures and religions practice burial. And, other than cremation, is there any other legal way to dispose of a body? Public health laws mandate what is done with us once we are dead.

Burial is a way to respectfully get rid of a body. Its not a religious thing.

Its not "Oh I believe in god so I'm burying some one"
Its
"I dont want a corpse in my house"

There is absolutely no reason to believe that burial is specific to Christianity. People have been buried long before Christianity even existed.

What are athiests supposed to do when granny dies? Let the coyotes eat her?

The only other alternative is cremation, and christians (some, anyways) believe in that as well. There's only so many things you can do with a piece of rotting a flesh.

I don't believe in burial. It just takes up space. I'm going to be cremated or turned into fertilizer or something. I'd be fine with my surviving family members just tossing me in the woods to feed the coyotes (...if it were legal...) --- at least then my dead body would be sustaining other life.

I guess I never thought of myself as a "circle of life" kind of guy. That's kind of sappy.

what's one to do with the other?

I believe in natural burial. I used to prefer cremation but have learned that it's bad environmentally.

I don't "believe in" burial. I believe in whatever my family wants to do with my remains after I'm gone. If that means cremation, fine. Burial, fine. Donating my body to science, fine.

Burials happen. I've seen them. Burials don't have to be believed in to exist.
Personally, I could care less about what's done to my carcass after it ceases to function.

Why would you assume that burying a body is a strictly religious thing? People from all cultures all over the world have buried bodies since the beginning of humanity.

I prefer cremation myself, but I don't see why you think burial has anything to do with religion.
