Two reasons: Geography & Military Might

Geography:
The US is separted from the world by two large oceans.
The US is "friends" with Canada & Mexico. Hopefully with Central & South America (exception: Venezuela).

So basically.... the US is hard to reach.

Military Might:
The US has the strongest and most advanced forces.
The US has the might to "take it" to the "enemy."
Think about it, a fleet of nuclear subs cruising the planet, a mighty fleet of Carriers that can project air supremacy virtually anywhere.

The US can win any "fight".
(not counting nuclear, which will destroy everyone.)

Remember, a "long term" occupation war is UN-WINNABLE. You can win a fight, but fighting "forever?" Just not winnable. After years and years, the occupying forces get discouraged and lose will and motivation.

If you're the country being "occupied"...what else are you expected to do but to keep on fighting? After all, where are you going to go? You are already home. So why not fight the enemy.

*****

Unless Mexico and Canada improve their military by ...%10,000 and join forces to destroy the US....the fight is pretty much going to be overseas.

Note: Terrorism is the exception. It can be fought anywhere, on any country's soil. Even the US must acknowledge that.

usa could take over any united states of america as long as they didn;t best chum mutually. The greater solid section could be controlling those countries. As seen in Afghanistan, even the poorest united states of america can placed be a discomfort. so far as your different lawsuits, your speaking from a stickly socialist innovations. Many interior the united statesargue that school should not be loose. yet we do have community colleges, that grant financhial help. this allows maximum to arise with the money for college. Healthcare is by no skill loose, you pay for it on your taxes. I agree we prefer progression in that section and have made some with Obama Care. We do get credit for best college training. you merely could practice your self. you apart from mght could practice your self to get an A in England. we are a federal government that divides skill ino smaller community governments. this allows each individual to have a say in government on a style of tiers. that's what makes us the land of the loose nevertheless. i anticipate you reside in England because of the fact of your previous comments and your national government controls community ones. we've better economic freedom, the liberty to possess weapons (which i think of is stupid) and we had a democracy once you nevertheless had a king. You of course don't understand social protection so i'm no longer likely to remark in this. usa like numerous different united states of america has a assorted economic device that has wealthy and poor alike. yet we do have the optimum GDP and the main millionaires with the aid of far. additionally in case you seems at ratio's no longer $ quantities all Europeon countries are in lots worse shape. with the aid of how we owe trillions of greenbacks, yet maximum of that's to our own government (social protection). We killed Bin weighted down and final time I checked you have been assisting us look. the only element you have been spectacular approximately became into immigration. we could constantly have some thank you to enable human beings in. yet so far as you being an asshole and insulting usa, If we are lazy why did you prefer our help in WWI, WWII, the chilly warfare and the trillions we've loaned you over the final century. Its form of pathetic that your the two an information superhighway troll or an exceptionally, rather annoying individual who's stupid adequate to ask an extremely offensive question on the information superhighway. Your an asshole or a fool, your selection.

You can't say 'never'. When Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese, Hawaii was a U.S. territory.

First simplest explanation is that if you attack their land and do it well such as the bombs dropped on Japan that sends a message and they stop attacking you.

The second explanation I guess could be a sarcastic one. We have all sorts of wars going on right here at home and fires that our own government can't put out. The problem with inner city gang violence is horrible it's terrible. BUT if you ask the average white bred American their opinion, they will tell you that the people there have nobody to blame but themselves.

Don't you find that sickening? That we can blame our own innocent children for the poverty and crime ridden barrios they are born into with unwed 12 yr old mothers and have no real choice of the matter and they are exposed to violence, drugs and lack of guidance and proper parenting and we wonder why they turn into monsters.

Yet... We invade other countries under the guise of 'helping them'.

It's irony at it's best. You have a good question there. To make my answers a bit less lenghty I can shorten them.
1. It's effective to destroy an operation at it's base
2. Our government is hipocritical and Americans are blind to their own citizens need and peril and want to feel good and superior by helping others run things the 'American Way'.

Sorry I thought I was gonna make those short! haha

Up until 9/11, that was easy to figure. If any country wanted to attack the US we would retaliate on it with such force, that no stone would be on top of another.

That all changed with 9/11, when the Saudi fanatics who were without a country, attacked the US. We really had no country to retaliate against.

The closest we came to finding supporters of al Qaeda was the Taliban in Afghanistan. Thus, the fight against the Taliban and al Qaeda.

This could be over in a New York minute, if the current administration would quit letting the Pakistani's hold them at bay. It's truth time, it's time we told Musharraf and these ignorant tribesmen that we are going in, like it or not . It's time for them to lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way !

Because American enemy at this time has no capability to invade or attack American mainland except for few terrorists (remember 911).
But during the cold war, maybe USSR has a chance to at least bring the war to America's heartland by invading Alaska which is not too far from the tip of Russia in Asian continent. From there, the Red Army can mobilized their troops across Canada and into USA.

Basically, it goes like this. They can try to fight on our land. It's not like the President of the US and the leader of the other side (Opposition Forces aka "The Enemy") discuss where the war will be held. If for some God Awful reason they could afford some f-16 Fighter Jets or what not. Do you think they could fly them over our land? We have the technology to track movement in the air and sea, and the first instance of non-response of why they were coming towards our land, we launch a counter attack and clear the threat.

Usually the wars are in Europe or the East, America's a country on its own really, while Europe is a collection of countries, as well as the East. Dont forget about the American Revolution, and the "war on terror"?

Well, I think that given the choice, it's better to wreck the other county, so we tend to hold the wars as away games. But assuming another country could actually invade. Do you know how many armed citizens there are here that would love to be able shoot an enemy.

Like number two said. I choose to live as an ex-pat in other countries but if anyone EVER invaded the US I woul be on the next flight home to fight. Considering in the US if you own one gun you more than likely own 5 and with the high percentage of gun ownership it would be worse than Switzerland in WW2. When Hitler asked the Chancellor of Switzerland what he would do if Germany invaded the response was "We will all go to the border, fire one shot, and go home." Hitler left Switzerland alone.

...thats the point. we confront threats overseas before they become threats. Those terrorsits currently have a very inexpensive option of confronting our soldiers in Iraq. They will choose to do that because its cheaper by far than coming to the US.
Also, other countries have determined that because of the immense pride MOST americans have and the immense vastness of urbanised america, it would be impossible to maintain a hold on any portion of US soil.
...dejay...slaughtering? torturing? you're a moron.
But I love it when nut bags like you speak up because it exposes the fact that you represent half the liberal anti-war dems in the country. Keep it up.
