Sure no worries. All show dogs have their cut off also.
Oh! Your dad is right! dogs whiskers are not the same as a cats. Dogs don't use them to feel their way around things.

Yes, don't worry. You can trim a dog's whisker, but not cut off all the way. I think you're thinking about cats. You cannot cut a cat's whisker, in which their whiskers are used for senses.

Cutting dogs whiskers is perfectly fine! In fact when you take it to the groomer they usually do cut the whiskers It's not going to hurt the dog at all.

The only time that it is not a good idea is when a dog is used extensively in the field. There is a greater chance of an eye injury when they have been trimmed. With the average dog around the house it won't make a bit of difference.

When you show a dog in the conformation ring, you shave their whiskers off. Doesn't seem to bother the dogs at all in any way.. he should be fine..

I would not advise it as yes they do use them to sense items around their mouths. however, It will not hurt them either.
Many show dogs do have their whiskers trimmed for looks. Just as they have their ears and tails cut.

My breeder clips her dogs' whiskers when she shows them.

Yeah they work like sensors, but it doesn't hurt them or anything to trim them off, they do that in dog shows all the time.

It's ok to cut but it's better for the dogs to have so they can feel around their face and their muzzle.

They do trim them on some types of show dogs but I don't recommend it. They do use them as sense organs. They'll grow back.
