i Wanna Know Because I don't Feel Like Collecting Blu-ray or HD-DVD.

Yes, because there are millions of people that only have a DVD player and don't have a HD format player - they will still be buying movies.

I agree that there is a "format war" between HD-DVD (the cheaper backward compatible format) and Blu-ray (the technologically superior format) - but they might both survive. The reason is because they are both 5" discs that can use the same laser - companies will start producing low-cost universal players that can play both.

Beta was the superior format to VHS, but they were NOT physically compatible. Plus Sony charged too much to licence the Beta format. If this happens again, Blu-ray may not win even though it is better.

Personally, I'm waiting for a $300 combo player (hopefully a Toshiba model).

just like why the gameboy is still around dvds still make alot of money and most people have and buy dvd players.so dont feel bad now but in the future its probably gonna be blu-ray since it has 5 times as much space as hd dvd.

Probably worth it if you have a full 1080p tv set and a blu-ray player or high-def player mated with a hdmi cable. The price drops will probably be gradual over the next 3 or 4 years before they bottom out and come out with something else I suspect.

DVD's aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Blu Ray, and HD DVD haven't even won the war between them, both of them cannot survive.
