It is called the "Double Standard", dear. It goes back to our biological roots. Men are supposed to spread their seed as far as they can - look at bull elk and tom cats. Women are supposed to pick a strong, powerful mate (look at the women attracted to professional athletes and to millionaires) and raise his children for him.

It takes a man about 5 minutes to make a child. It takes a woman 3 - 5 years to raise it. During those 3 - 5 years she is going to be handicapped. If she doesn't have a strong, powerful mate, a saber-tooth tiger may eat her. (At least that is what her instincts tell her.)
