Nickie,
Let's begin with Jesus CHRIST. You say that HE was "a man who was born in Jerusalem (who AMAZINGLY as it stands today had blonde hair and blue eyes- although people in the middle east dont look like this)". I read, study, and obey GOD'S WORD the HOLY BIBLE. Nowhere does it tell HIS hair color, or eye color. It does teel us where HE was born and a number of things about HIM. You say that "Emperor Constantine of the Byzantinium empire changed christianitys beliefs. Henry VIII of the UK changed its beliefs too." The beliefs of CHRIST'S CHURCH follow only the BIBLE and not the whims of man as many denominational churches are doing. You are saying that every "Church" is doing so. This is NOT the CASE! You also seem to believe that Darwin's Theory is absolute truth. There are more holes in it then anyone can ever plug with what you are using, yet you believe ity over Faith in GOD. You have the problem. I certainly do not. There is too much material out there for you to read and study for you to be this ignorant of GOD. I would suggest that you find a Non-Denominational Church who follows ONLY the BIBLE and not man's creeds. Find a Church who will base everything on GOD'S WORD and not on man's thinking. Find a group who will study HIS WORD with you and show you that what I am saying is correct. Have a wonderful evening.
Thanks,
Eds (A simple Christian)
EDIT:
Jesus CHRIST spoke of Divorce and gave only one reason for divorce. HE said that Adultery is the only reason for divorce. That tells me that King Henry was NOT the first to allow or approve of divorce. CHRIST was the first!! Get it right, young man.

You sound much more like a poorly informed agnostic...then a real atheist.
And...while I'm certainly not inclined to live by a monotheistic set of beliefs...I know better than to over-generalize or over-simplify the wide variety of denominations and belief systems that make up the entirety of "Christianity".
By your narrow guidelines... Astronomy is not a real science because Astronomers believed for centuries that Saturn had only 3 rings...not the thousands that we now know exist!!
And...medical science is not really a true science because they once believed that you could drill a hole in a persons head to release the "evil spirits" that were making a person ill!!
Religions...and religious beliefs are just as dynamic and constantly changing as the people who espouse belief and choose to worship.
You can be an atheist or an agnostic for any reason you'd like. Heck...become a Druid and worship mistletoe and holly for all I care...LOL But if this is the best argument you've got for your atheistic conversion...you really should avoid confronting others on their beliefs. Making the jump to atheism after reading one Wikipedia article on Henry VIII doesn't make you look informed...it makes you look rather silly.

hey i also have this problem. It makes it real hard to believe in i know when uve got ALL this stuff to contradict it, I went to Uganda a few months ago with a christian charity, I went to the real poor villages, and their faith in God really blew me back, all they have is the bible, nothing else, no contradictions or anyone to tell them wrong..just Gods word and their belief, its amazing how much faith they have, that's the only thing they have got they are so poor! Anyway the point I'm trying to make is, its so much simpler for those people to believe, when I came back to this country a month later, I saw how much actually distracts us from any religion, not just Christianity. Such as Sex, drugs, rock and roll type of culture we all have here. Because we live in a diplomatic country peoples opinions clash, and there's also alot of bad teaching about Christianity, this is why the Christian religion is like a Chinese whisper game today. So i know where ur coming from, hope I helped a little!!!!

I was raised in a fundamental Christian household/community. But I still didn't understand all that. I think I was taught that God magically protected the Bible and its teaching as it was passed down through history, preventing it from being infiltrated by "human" influence. But diff Christians will have diff answers.
And I was taught that the Bible is not to be questioned--it trumps every other source of information, including science (thus some Christian's rejection of evolution). Other Christians accept evolution--they split their religion from other areas of their life, like science, since they can't fix (or face) the contradictions. And some Christians see the Bible as no more important than other texts, like books by Aristotle or Plato, or Freud. In that last case, I don't see why you'd bother with Christianity at all, but to each his own.
Attending college has given me the space to finally look at my beliefs, and now I'm an agnostic. Religion is just too unpredictable and illogical for me.

I am a biblical Christian. That is to say, if it's not in the Bible, I don't believe it (in regard to my faith, anyway). Where in the Bible does it say that Jesus had blond hair and blue eyes?
What changes did Constantine and Henry make to the Bible? I was not aware of any that have any significance.
The Bible is the OPPOSITE of the "Chinese whisper game." There are more surviving original texts, and copies of the originals than there are for other documents that we hold as historically accurate.
EDIT: So, that would be a change that Henry made to the church of England, not the Bible.
What did Constantine do?

I have never seen Jesus protrayed as a blonde haired, blue eye guy. Interesting.
I am thinking the problem is the church and the fight for power. Some have it and want to keep it. Religion is simply a system to control the masses.
From what I can understand Jesus pretty much dismissed religion and encouraged personal spirituality. That is my take, don't follow a religion (they are man made), but be spiritual, give back more than you take, live to your potential and protect those who are unable to do for themselves; remember you are a part of a higher power, act like you deserve the job.

Now that you are atheist I guess you feel like you have all this power where you can try and hurt others with your unholy babble......that's your right to do
But you know whats in the book if you were indeed ever Christian, I also know that books have been left out, of the Bible and there's some in the Vatican that no ones allowed to read. But for over 2000 years this subject has been used as bases for wars, and every other evil . Basically because everyone wants what they believe to be the only truth....and I've also been down the road of looking in other directions for answers. I studied witchcraft for a while and it didn't give me any answers. The only answer I've found is God...the Bible may not be complete and has gaps that will never be filled until we get the answers from God's own mouth. If what I believe is wrong and all I have is a 6 foot hole in the ground....so be it..but I'm believing in that at the end of my life I'll get both of them.
This will explain where I will be.....at the end of my life.....because I know what waits for me.......I already been there!
THE DREAM
I DREAMED ONE NIGHT TWO ANGELS CAME TO MY BED. THEY TOOK ME TO HEAVEN I FELT I HAD NOTHING
TO DREAD. WE STOOD IN FRONT OF A BIG WHITE GATE. IT OPENED SLOWLY AS WE STOOD IN WAIT.
MANY CLOUDS BILLOWED AND SWIRLED ABOUT US AS I STOOD IN AWE OF THE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS THAT
SURROUNDED US. WHAT I SAW WORDS COULD NOT EXPRESS, I WANTED TO STAY AT THIS BEAUTIFUL ADDRESS.
THE ANGELS ALLOWED ME TO LOOK INSIDE, THE BEAUTY THE MAJESTY, MADE ME CRY.
"IT'S TRUE, IT'S ALL TRUE, I KNOW THAT IT'S TRUE" I HEARD MYSELF CRY, AS TEARS RAN STREAMING
FROM MY EYES.
I KNEW WHAT I SAW WAS NOT OF THIS EARTH,THIS CREATION WAS FOR THOSE OF THE NEW BIRTH. THE
POWER, THE BEAUTY, THE SIGHT OF IT ALL WAS SO STRONG,THAT THE ANGELS SHUT THE GATES QUICKLY
TO MY NEW HOME. "IT'S NOT YOUR TIME," I HEARD THEM SAY, " WE JUST WANTED YOU TO SEE WHAT WAS
ON THE WAY," THEY SAID "YOU WILL NOT REMEMBER WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN INSIDE THE GATE, BUT YOU WILL REMEMBER WHERE
YOU HAVE BEEN.YOU MUST TELL OTHERS ABOUT THIS DREAM. THAT GOD'S WORD IS TRUE. IT'S THE REAL THING.
GOD HAS LET YOU SEE WHAT IS YOUR REWARD IF YOU WORSHIP, LOVE HIM, AND KEEP HIS WORD."
WE ALL NEED TO REALIZE THAT IT'S REALLY TRUE. WE NEED TO GET THE LOST ONES IN IF IT'S ALL THAT WE
DO. WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME, THE END IS NEAR, AND YES, IF YOU ARE LOST YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO FEAR.
CALL ON JESUS NOW, SO YOU CAN GO TO AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I SAW AND YOU'LL BE EXCITED TOO.
I'LL SOON BE IN MY NEW HOME,PASS THE BIG WHITE GATES. DON'T YOU WANT TO GO THERE TOO? I JUST CAN'T
WAIT!!!!
I REALLY DREAMED THIS DREAM JUST AS IT IS WRITTEN. I FEEL IT WAS INSPIRED BY GOD AND HE GUIDED MY
THOUGHTS AND MY HAND IN PUTTING THIS TOGETHER.
I AM GIVING THIS TO YOU BECAUSE I LOVE YOU AND GOD HAS DIRECTED ME TO DO SO.
I HOPE THIS MESSAGE WILL HELP YOU TO MAKE THE BIGGEST DECISION OF YOUR LIFE
TO ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR AND TO SERVE HIM. SO YOU, ONE DAY
WILL STAND AT THE BIG WHITE GATE AND BE INVITED IN FOR ETERNITY

Hello Nick, Christianity as such was laid down many years ago and a rule book, as such, was given to its followers. It was given the name 'Holy Bible', it was cleverly and precisely written in plain language. Its rules were fair, rigid and applied to everyone irrespective of status. I can find no fault in its wording, only in its interpretation by those seeking to overpower those people willing to to abide by the rules. It does not require anyone to chop off the hand of a starving child for stealing bread, nor does it ask for anyone to be stoned to death or to commit suicide with the indiscriminate slaughter of woman and children, so that the killer can spend eternity in a brothel. Yes I was forced to be a roman catholic, when I was younger, but I still remain true to christian ideals now that I have got rid of the papal shackles that bound me as a child. If you think rationally about it, the principle of Christianity is undeniably fair to everyone, its the interpretation that's been corrupted. None of the other religions offer the fairness and democracy afforded to everyone that Christianity does. I class myself as an atheist too, but I am still a christian and hold true as I can to the Holy Bibles Ten Commandments. I am not a saint, but I have not grievously sinned.

No one at this day and age knows what Jesus really looks like. There have been so many different paintings of him until it is very confusing. All we know is that he is a Jew. I don't think that God wanted us to focus on his race but to focus on his purpose. Yes, I agree that people are very confused these days. Godliness is is rapidly growing due to disbelief. But if people would just seek God's face and trust in his word. If the Atheist believe so strongly in these men and take them at their word then why do they have such a hard time taking God at his word? These men has left behind books as well and so many people has never meet them.No one in this time has ever saw them either but they trust every word that is recorded of these men. Men recorded these books Of Hengry VIII and Emperor Constantine as well but man would rather trust that Literature faster then trusting the men of God that wrote the bible. Well, maybe they should look at the sins of this world and see if any has come to past.
2 Timothy 3: 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.( Verse 3:2 ) People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, ( Verse 3:3) without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, ( Verse 3:4 ) treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God- ( Verse 5 ) having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
Please continue to read! let's skip verse 6 and 7 and read:
( Verse 3:8 ) Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth-men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. ( Verse 9 ) But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
This is godliness in the last days. In the last days man will see right as wrong and wrong as right. I pray for this world as a whole. There is no justice to igorance. Please be careful as how you apply your comments because from what I am getting from you is that you are not a Atheist but is giving your view on how people leave the true faith and turn toward being Atheist etc. So I hope that I understood your comments.

It is true that there are immense contradictions in any given religion. With a little study you can find a lot of those. With more study of all religions many of those contradictions will resolve. Most contradictions arise from taking the words of prophets, etc. too literally, instead of seeingthem as truth subjectively understood by each single visionary or prophet, cast in a language of symbolism and allegories.
When you go even deeper into the study of religions though, you will again begin to see even deeper contradictions. These stem from the fact that each prophet has a specific approach to solving the problems that a soul/mind will arrive at at the given time. many of these contradictions simply cannot be solved by mental excercise or reasoning. Therefore the path of gnosticism (direct understanding arrived at by unification of all ideas through deep meditation) has been chosen by all great researchers of religions, and it seems to provide them with good enough answers. Truth is, each one of us must learn to grow beyond our religion. as one great man put it: "It is good to be born into a religion, but bad to die in one." (I am not encouraging Atheism here, neiter is the quoted person). One religion with all its contradictions (on the surface and in its depths) is not what we humans are here to follow. REligions, are templates that allow us to create our own religion, one perfected for the needs of our individual path.
In Love and Light.
