It will require a lot of modifications since the 5.0 wasn't available in the 97-up F150's. Frame mounts, the Mustang tranny, wiring, and everything else must me fabricated. A Donor truck with a good 4.6 or 5.4L would be a better swap choice. Sell the 5.0 and use the money to buy a 99-03 5.4L truck for a donor. It will have all of the needed parts.

MUch easier to put a 4.6 L in, that is what the truck is made for, since you already have the 5.0L you should be able to trade it off at a auto wreaker for a used 4.6 or you can bring it in as a good core to a rebuilder and get a good reconditioned 4.6, it will have just as much power as the 5.0 L but be much easier to drop in and should work with original electronics that are in the truck.

Most came stock with the 4.9L V-6 rates at 300 cubic inches. But yes, some did have the 302 in it.

You can do it, but if you are in a state that inspects your vehicle it will never pass. Federal law states that you cannot put a motor older than the year of the vehicle.

the computor will have to stay with the engine and its not an easy job........other than that its a simple drop in after changing the motor mounts and such.........now if you changed the distributor and removed the fuel injection you would make it a lot easier
