Its not that people don't think that global warming exists, its that they don't believe it is being caused by mankind.

The arguements for this position are quite simple:

1) The earth's climate is always changing. There is no standard temperature or climate that the earth should have. In fact, the earth is currently in an interglacial period of an ICE AGE, and ice ages only make up approx. 15% of the earths total history. So the earth is currently relatively cool compared to it's "normal" condition.

2) The earth warmed only about 0.6*C in the last century. This is a relatively minor warming period, and followed several centuries of cooling (known as the little ice age.) Ice core studies from both Antarctica and Greenland show that over the last 10,000 years, both of the areas have been warmer and cooler than present (as much as 2.5-3*C) and that the rates of temperature change in these areas have been much more rapid than the current warming. In fact, Greenland was warmer for MOST of the last 10,000 years than it is know. See the attached link "current major interglacial."

3) Scientists believe that the little ice age was caused by a reduction in the sun's output, known as the Maunder Minimum. Since that "minimum," there has been a slow increase in the overall sunspots and solar energy throughout each subsequent 11-year cycle. Take a look at the attached link to the NASA earth observatory link for Solar Radiation, and you will see that the 11 year average of sunspot activity matches the raise in temperature over the last 150 years almost exactly.

4) While the increase in sunspot activity matches the changes in temperature over the last 150 years, the change in the level of atmospheric co2 does not. CO2 has been rising at an exponential level during this time, while temperature has risen and fallen several times over the same period.

5) NASA scientists describe the little ice age as "one of several cold snaps that briefly interrupted the overall warming trend ongoing since the end of the Ice Age." The current warming is a continuation of the overall warming trend that has been going on for the last 11,000 years. See attached link on Paleoclimatology.

6) Global warming believers like to harp on the fact that 10 of the warmest years on record have been recorded in the last 20 years or so. However, there is nothing remarkable about this. The temperature record only consists of about 120 years over the earth's 4.5 billion year history. Since the earth was in the end of the little ice age when this recording started and has been warming since then, of course more recent years have been the warmest. However, it is curious that we have the warmest years in the last 20 years or so when measurements have been made using precise digital instruments and satellites. You cannot accurately compare these recent recordings with older recording that were done by people using crude analog instruments.

7) Despite the fact that the earth has been in a warming period, and it has supposedly accelerated greatly due to human influence in the second half of the last century, record high temperatures around the world have all occured mainly 80 or more years ago. For instance, the highest ever measured temperature on earth was in Libya (136*F) in the year 1922. The highest recorded temperature in North America is 134*F recorded in California in the year 1913. Australia's highest temperature was recorded in 1889, Europe's in 1881, and South America's in 1905. See attached link from infoplease.

All of this information clearly shows that the current warming is natural, has happened before, is part of the overall warming trend since the last large glaciation retreat, and is not being affected by humankind.

Global warming may exist, however, the global warming movement is more of a "political" movement than an environmental movement. The result of most proposals would be to achieve very little reduction in co2 and dramatically increase the power of the United Nations through the mandated use of carbon credits. Even with the IPCC's most aggressive scenarios, they still project an increase in temperatures throughout this century. In your studies, also look at the costs and benefits of each proposal.

*The Earth has gone through these natural cycles for millions or billions of years, it is dynamic not static.
*The Earth naturally produces about 500 billion metric tons of co2 naturally, all human activity totals only about .01% of that. We know through historic ice core records the Earth is capable of digesting somewhere in the range of 800 billion metric tons. So we are not straining the natural system at all. *The Earth has been warmer in the past and has warmed rapidly, way before industrialization, there are other factors. *We are still coming out of the last ice age so it makes sence that the Earth would be warming.
*In the 70's these same enviromental extreemist were saying we were causing the next global ice age.
*Other planets and moons in our solar system have also experienced global warming (i.e. Europa, Mars). Did human industrialization do that too?

The Earth has had ice ages, they were cooling periods, between them were warming periods. This has been going on for all of Earth’s 4 + - billion years. This all happened before any of the modern day technology came into being and will continue after we are gone.

The Earth is going through a pole shift right now. A pole shift is when the magnetic poles swap polarities. During pole shifts the magnetosphere is weaker and more of the Sun’s rays strike the Earth, this causes extra heating of the Earths surface, and makes global warming more pronounced.

These are natural cycles of the Earth. We puny stupid humans can no more stop or even reduce a natural cycle of the Earth, than the man in the moon. This is 9th grade science, and one would think that scientists and politicians would be better educated, but it seems that this not so, and they could remember 9th grade science class too.

This may just may be another smoke and mirrors propaganda campaign to cover our governments lies and con games. There are so many conspiracies running rampant it’s hard to tell which are real and which are just simple stupidity. The idea we can stop global warming IS stupidity at it’s highest form.

There are no credible arguments that global warming (i.e. increasing average global temperatures) does not exist. Data simply do not lie. There is, however, considerable room for debate about the extent to which the current global trend is due to human activity, how warm it might get, and what, if anything we should do about it.

Global warming is subjective science that requires a "consensus" to read the tea leaves.

Real science is objective and can be proved by most everybody.

Many people once thought the Y2K bug was going to cause airplanes to crash, the stock market to crash, etc. That was based on thei emotions, not on logic. Same with GW.

worldwide Warming is assumed to be in charge for the components differences in charge for crop disasters, famine, drastic differences in the components, and the polar ice cap melting. people who disagree with thought of world Warming argue that climate exchange is a organic incidence and examples might properly be got here across by using out Earth's historic past of previous situations.

All told there must be hundreds and hundreds of arguments, if you flick back through questions asked previously in this section you'll come acorss many of them.

One thing common to many of these arguments is that they have no sources and where sources are included it's usually to a non-scientific website. In short, the arguments that are put forward have no credible basis to them and are often repeated parrot-fashion by some skeptics without any real understanding of what it is they're saying or writing. This point is clearly illustrated by some of the previous answers you've received.

The Grist Mill site (mentioned in an earlier answer) looks at quite a few of the more commonly used arguments, there's some others on this page - http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/myths.html

hey i think that people who don't think global warming is an issue are just plain wrong. i am saying this because if you just go outside and see the weather it is buring specially here in toronto. at this point people may argue that it is summer time and that's why it is so hot but usually here it rains as well and this year we have had barely and rain. also there are way more storms now and they are getting more harmfull as well.

people who argue about this question you have posted are usually business people who try to bribe us with all this "stuff" they are saying. for example bringing lawn fertilizers. these fertilizers as a matter of fact are made from oil/gas companies and they are trying to fool us by making these things. another huge part of this is our politicians. these polititions just keep on telling us that nothing is wrong and the world is going to be clean, but i am saying , we are at the peak point of the world, we have put so much carbon dioxide in the world that now it is harmfull for us, therefore asthama and smog are being caused. i say if we don't do anything soon then we will suffer when we are old and then our childeren will suffer. if you have any questions on my opinion pls email me at "farazmkhan2000@yahoo.com" thnks.

THE SUN.

Closer to the sun we are the warmer it is.
Farther away from the sun the colder it is.

And, do you complain about Global Warming in winter except summer only. Explain the snow and extreme -80 cold.
