I recently bought this guitar strap for my Fender Strat:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Patchworks-Cotton-Guitar-Strap?sku=361156

Excuse my ignorance, but both ends of the straps are identical and one end has a piece of string tied to it. What am I suppose to do with that string?

Thanks!

The string goes around the nut at the top of the guitar!

you can do thi one of two ways , attach the strap to the stap pins with the string at the bottom or take the string off ,its not nesesary for an electric , the string is used for an acoustic and ties abouve the nut

If you have an electric, cut it off. It's for acoustics. If you have an acoustic, then you tie that under the strings on the head of the guitar. If you know what a nut is, then it goes behind that.

It's for guitars (mainly acoustic I believe) that only have one strap button. The sting goes around the neck. If your guitar only has one button, most music shops will install a second one for only a few bucks. If you have both buttons you don't need the string.

The string is for an acoustic... many acoustics don't come with a nut on the neck for the strap. Since you don't need it just ignore it or cut it off if you like.

String piece holds the musician together, or perhaps that indicates the bottom of guitar strap
