My manager at work just invited me to her wedding. I hardly know her. I heard that she is asking for money, but that seems so impersonal and it isn't something I'd like to give.
Are there any ideas that are unique and inexpensive. She has two young children, maybe a movie certificates?
I have no idea.

A nice, less-costly gift that you can give to a person you don't know too well would be something like a nice picture frame or a collection of wine glasses. Maybe something like a nice photo album or even a gift card to a nice store would be acceptable.

If you aren't aware of what she likes or what she needs, your best bet would be a gift card. Try getting a gift card to a store like Bed, Bath & Beyond... or Linens N' Things. These are stores that sell nice house-hold items, which would be great for her new home with the hubby!

Try researching some gift ideas on the sources that I've listed.

Good luck in your search! =)

That sounds good, but check ebay before spending any $. I got about 15 2-4-1 movie certificates for $5. You could look very generous and pay less than anyone.

If she is asking for money just give her the money. I understand you want to be all personal and unique but you really should just get the couple what they want.

Why are you going to waste your money going to buy them a gift they don't want and will probably try to return or stuff in their garage just to be unique? You said you barely know her so why are you so worried about making it personal anyway? Make it personal by writing them a heartfelt note in a card and including the money or by wrapping it in a unique way. To be honest it's actually kind of rude to go buy a boxed gift when you know for a fact the bride has requested cash (for whatever reason).

A gift isn't supposed to be about what YOU like....its supposed to be about what the RECIEVER likes and apparently she likes money.

not to be mean but the wedding is about her and her new hubby not the kids..and the kids should be excluded from the gift if you do not know them

if you give her money she will know the exact amount you are spending on her ..and just to let you know 50 bucks for someone you barely know is way too much

check online for half priced gift certificates to something local..you can find them from golfing...to restaurants..

if you want to get more personal you can get a marriage certificate holder from things remembered...or a clock..check their online clearance..they have tons of things!!

get her a nice picture frame or a wedding album. You can even take pictures at her wedding and reception and make a scrap book for her. you'll probably be able to capture things a professional photographer wouldn't. You could also take up a collection at work and chip in to buy a present from all of you guys at work.

Will the tackiness ever cease. Since they have kids, I suggest you make a basket with movie rental cards, popcorn, candy. Should not be more than $30.00.
Have a good time at her wedding and thank the good lord she did not ask you to be in the wedding.

Get something off her registry or just give her the cash or gift card. It doesn't have to be much. Like someone else said, you could decline and just send her a card.

Try a website called, Chimes Of Your Life.

They are a personalized wind chime company. You can choose different sizes, different colors, different wind sail shapes, and you can choose to have it inscribed with anything you want.

They are around 50.00, but their quality is so great, you manager will think you spent a whole lot more.

Hallmark has wonderful wedding gifts. There are picture frames, ornaments, pillow with there name on it.
You can get them something from there for less than $50.00
You can get them a picture frame so they can put a family pic in there from the wedding

This frame is under $25 and will be a hit. You don't need to spend $50.
