3. chronic sinus inflammation
4. popping ears

It sounds like you need to see an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat doctor). That would be my guess. I suffer from sinus trouble myself. I get a shot every 3-4 months of some type of steroid. It helps me a lot with the headache pain I get and the hay fever. I'd also maybe go to a regular doctor for a complete check up if I were you. Your symptoms could be caused by some other illness not related to your sinuses.

Check out an ear nose and throat specialist--and keep up the extended protected sex--but the kissing might be the cause of the popping ears--especially if you were practicing on a hoover.

Forget the virus (in the end, identification isn't going to help you anyway) and see an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist).
