I wouldn't wire it to anything. It's useful in a vehicle so that the CD player's display doesn't ruin your vision when driving at night. In a house, you're better off with the bright display, so just leave the illumination wire disconnected.

If you prefer a dim display, you can usually switch it manually in the deck's setup menu.
